I think this applies to a lot off CC golfers looking up to Web.com and Web.com looking up to PGA/Euro tours. Is it ok to play tournaments that you do not hold a card on?
For myself I want to play the Web.com tournament to see how I stack up. I 100% agree with the promotion guidelines, but I just want to see (for myself) how I stack up. I completed Q-school in late May and qualified for Web-A and made all 3 cuts on that tour that I played, with one top 25. I just feel I didn't do much wrong to be demoted, I just want to see how I'd do on the Web.com tour.
I find a challenge wherever available... whether it be to get a top 5 in CC-A or to make the cut in Web.com, which is how I'd realistically put my hopes in each tour.
Thoughts, comments?

I know the people that had to verify scores it probably made it a bit harder because they had to go through the scores that didn't count (not a tour card holder for that tour). With the API, not sure if it makes it easier in that regard. I've played above tour tournaments but would only play 17 holes and then stop.

I had complained about a member of the community playing in every tour a few months ago. Some members are against it, some members do not see any issue with it. Although it is somewhat frowned upon, there is no official rule against doing so. My suggestion to you is to just play four practice rounds at whatever course a certain tour is playing at. Record your scores and add them up. This way you aren't on the leaderboard in the game. Mitchblue has a good point about the API. I would ask Tim or Scott about what they think.

I am fine with playing practice rounds, but if and when the wind patch gives everyone the same winds AND same direction of those winds for each of the 4 rounds, I would like to play against the "field". I can understand the logistics and the etiquette of not playing. I just want opinions and maybe even staff input. Thanks for the reply.

This is interesting, and I had really never even given a 2nd thought about playing in another tour's tournament being frowned upon or causing extra work for admins.
Before I even knew about tgctours.com, I saw these "timed" tournaments in the game and would play a few of them every now and then...not knowing at all that they had anything to do with stuff outside of the video game. I'm guessing I wasn't the only one, and that there are people today who still don't know about tgctours.com but find these tourneys in the game and play them.
As for verification of scores, I figured up until the recent update that all of the top scores were checked for accuracy, then "spot-checking" was done for other scores down in the middle and bottom tiers of the leaderboards.....never knew the real verification process.
With the new process and the reveal of each player's scorecard, my guess is that each and every players scores can be "auto-verified"...but that's just a guess, as I still have no idea how verification is done. If that is the case, then I don't think it would matter if you register and play in a tourney outside of your flight....but as I said, I have no idea.
Yeah, we need an administrator to weigh in. They do a fantastic job, and we don't want to make it any more difficult on them.

I have no issue with it and the api doesn't mind either

Same here. Play away. The only leaderboard that counts officially is on the site, not in-game. People shouldn't pay attention to that anyway.
