Hi there! Just played a round here. Pin 3, gold tees, high NE winds, default settings otherwise.
Hole 1 - with the downhill and helping wind, I hit a 400 yard drive. I had just 81 yards into the green. This one will play very differently based on wind direction, but here, it's just a drive, pitch, and putt even though it's 488 yards on the scorecard.
It also seems the default green speeds are 145...I assume you have a skill on your MyPlayer that adds a roll boost. Not a huge deal, but just wanted to let you know.
Hole 2 - nice look off the tee. This is now the second straight hole that has a two-tiered green. And it's another hole that, even into the wind now, plays as a drive, pitch, and putt, since it's just about 350 yards.
Hole 3 - another very short par-4...this one's just 311 in these settings. It's downhill and into the wind, making it easy to hit driver and go for it. Not sure when you'd ever not go for it, to be honest. Either way, it's the 3rd hole in a row on these settings where I was very close to the green off the tee and needed a pitch or chip to reach in regulation.
Hole 4 - I like this one...the bunker on the inside-right of the fairway does kind of sit a little strangely in the land. It also doesn't seem that bunker is really ever in play, unless you have a strong tailwind and hit the ball a mile, as it's 360 yards away from the tee.
Hole 5 - this one's fine...the green seemed a little large, and I am not sure how often that false from will come into play.
Hole 6 - wind is helping again, and I had less than 200 yards into this par-5 on my second after a 380-plus drive. Green has a false front again, which runs right into rough or bunker, as the green is perched quite a bit above the greenside sand. Would like more of a ground game option. Also, the area around this pin location is flat as a table.
Hole 7 - another green with a false front, and this green also feels pretty big for a short-length par-3.
Hole 8 - I like this hole, too. Challenging into the wind. This is my favorite green so far, too.
Hole 9 - I enjoy the idea of this hole, but the fairway is really cambered to the right. Some of the rough just off the fairway and leading into bunkers is pretty steep, too. Tee shots hit to the middle of the fairway will end up in heavy rough, like mine did. Even so, it's very short and plays downwind in this setup. I had 181 left from the heavy stuff on my second, and I could get to the green with an iron. This is another green with a false edge/front, and the sculpting of the greens has been one area I might suggest working on. Greens are all perched up above bunkers and run off in most sides. This one also had a bowl depression in front of it.
Hole 10 - a brute of a par-4 into the wind. The green here has some more interest, but it has kind of a punchbowl effect at the front left, then runs in the opposite direction and into rough/sand in the back left. There are some other internal slopes that are at odds with each other as well.
Hole 11 - the course routing is a little odd between Holes 10 and 11. Hole 10 seemed to have a split fairway, where you could play on either side to have a better angle or have a shorter shot in. It now appears that one of those fairway options was actually the Hole 11 fairway - yet Hole 11 is a 279-yard par-4. Felt just kind of awkward, to me. Also, the wind is helping here, and despite danger with the water, I could reach the green in one with 3-wood or probably less...I was 50 feet past the hole using 3-wood off the tee. The hole itself kind of felt stuck - might have been better as a longer par-3? As a par-4, it was just missing something.
Hole 12 - this is another par-5 that uses that same kind of green complex, where there's a bunker/bunkers in front of it and the putting surface is elevated, so there are no real ground game options. This played as a 3-shot hole for me, anyway, but it just feels like these hole repeat a bit.
Hole 13 - another quirky routing here...Hole 13 essentially uses Hole 12 fairway again.
Holes 14 and 15 - back to back par-3s. I like the contrast of the one, uphill longer par-3 and the short, downhill par-3.
Hole 16 - a nice cape hole. This would be very tough into the wind.
Hole 17 - this ones fine, no issues.
Hole 18 - this feels kind of like a copy of Hole 9...uphill par-5 to finish out one of the nines. It is into the wind vs with it, and there's much less fairway camber. The green is set up like the other par-5s have been, though...a kind of lions mouth-ish design where sand is in the middle of the green complex, there's a false front, and the whole left side is a red-sloped runoff.
Overall - I like the course a lot, and the environment is very good. Greens felt a bit "samey" after a while, with false fronts, lions mouth bunkers, and perched-up positioning with lots of runoffs. A couple areas on the course has some quirky routing that wouldn't seem to work well in reality, and the two drivable par-4s felt a lot more like par-3s to me, as you're always going for the green in one.
But there's a lot more to like than criticize here. This felt like a really solid course that could use just a few sculpting touchups and maybe a tweak in design here or there. But it played really well and looks great!
