Letting virtual golfers know I came across a very enjoyable LiDAR version of the Greywalls course in Michigan. Fabulous Mike DeVries course over what must be some of the roughest and rockiest terrain going around. Would be interested to hear what the LiDAR designers thought.

I'll say this, Chris puts out a lot of courses ... I repeat "a lot" and quick too. Michigan has many nice courses including that one, a few others like Lost Dunes and Harbor Shores (I know someone that caddies at Shores so ...). I published a RAW LiDAR version of Lost Dunes to show peeps what we have to start out with, It's named TQC LiDAR Course (RAW), I didn't do the spline work on OSM, it's pretty bad but with some love it could be a nice course to replicate.

I wish this specific designer would take more care with greens. They are always published at a default speed (these are default Moderate - 134). And there will be pins that are not "legal" in TGCT terms. Had a long par-3 here with a pin that was never getable.
Still think his best is another Michigan track, Arcadia Bluffs.

Whilst I agree many are rushed I did enjoy this one as I did Arcadia Bluffs. Also thought Paraparumu, Porthcawl and Cruden Bay were very playable.

This designer really needs to take time with some of these courses. Some super interesting ones that really need some polish.

I've heard this comment before. Are you saying that moderate is too fast in general? Or that for this particular course, moderate is inappropriate? Chris

I've heard this comment before. Are you saying that moderate is too fast in general? Or that for this particular course, moderate is inappropriate? Chris It's more the idea of the default, designer-set green speeds being the exact same speed as one of the game's default green speeds, and that speed resulting in pin locations that are not really useable due to colorful slopes around the pin. For example, the game's "Moderate" default speed is 134, as shown in the upper right corner of the screen when putting. If there are yellow or orange slopes within 9 boxes of the grid surrounding the hole location, and the green speed is set to 134 by the designer, then you can't use the designer's default OR "Moderate" default, and are forced to drop speeds down. Only "Slow" or "Very Slow" would be useable in TGCTours, since yellow and orange within the 9-box grid are "illegal". Basically, it's about limiting the use of the course in society play, as schedulers would be quite restricted in how they'd set up a course. In this specific case, there was a long par-3 (I forget which one) that had yellow above and below the hole within the 9 boxes around the pin on default green speeds. I hit a shot that landed above the hole, the ball rolled to the slope below the pin, and it kept rolling 40-some feet away. There was no chance of getting it near the hole. Here are the game's default green speed settings, for reference; the second column is the "green speed" setting used within the actual course designer:

Especially the chart. I'll be mindful of this going forward. That said, I just hit one to 12 feet on the hole you're referring to. Rory might argue it just requires a good shot! ;-) Regards, Chris

Thanks Dave! Coming from you I consider that a huge compliment! I love all your courses. I didn't realize you'd done a version for 2k21 until I basically had it done. Had I known I probably wouldn't have tackled it. I hope you don't mind.

Don't mind at all i could not keep up with all the changes there and the data i had, it has changed so much since i last designed it.I Think it's the success of the game it seems to me fictional and especially fantasy course very popular in 2k23(there not for me) just glad a few still design real courses which is why i play the game.Always need versions of courses you never know in the future who or might not be around i noticed you designed Morfontaine as well so more the merrier i say players can choose which one to play.
