Welcome to week 40! This week we are at another mctrees02 course (Playa Pilar and Running Water being the other two notables), this time a rework of his rookie contest 2021 course. Originally Known as Revival Club, an open style Texan golf course with a flair for some truly insane greens, this version allows for even more fun wind conditions and reworks several greens. The name of the game this week is "eagles" as there are tons of opportunities here worth capitalizing on, but also huge chances for major punishment if you miss your shot in the wrong place with steep ravines that are apparently bunkers and nasty green angles expected from a mctrees course. I expect maybe some -20 rounds, no 187s rear their head this week either so you better be good at putting on slower green speeds! Next week we start our march to the next Major! We have some warmup at a classic links course next week while people attempt to qualify for the Open and then a reworked Shoreditch will once again grace plat in all its evil glory for the Major.

Hello. Well, the best Excel file in the world doesn't help if tempo and putting precision are both missing. As a result, I will miss the cut this week by two or three strokes. There's video coverage on twitch if you want to have a look at all the slows I threw in for good measure. Funnily, though, I raided zcolbster when I was done and arrived in the middle of a little rant about his tempo being very inconsistent as well. So, thanks Colby for providing me with an unexpected but good excuse for my bad play, because if such a good player and I both have tempo issues at the same time, it has to be the platform, right? Good luck all and see you next week!

Sitting -23 at the cut and will rue 3 or 4 very makeable putts (incl a 6 footer) that I just missed. Actually hope I don't make the cut because my Rd's 3 and 4 are pretty embarressing. Cheers

Cheers Since I was fed up with not knowing what to do in high and very high winds, I started noting down some elementary club distances in an Excel file. Feel free to have a look at my posts from Weeks 38 and 39. Cheers!

Still here... This week, I might actually make the cut and erase one of my red thingies. Sitting at -25 after two, completely and utterly excelless... Excellence without the Excel-lens.

A cut at last A cut at last Thank god almighty A cut at last
-26 seems me through to the weekend for the first time since ... early May? And qualifies me for the Open Championship. No good deed goes unpunished.

Cheers Yeah, Murphy's Law.....make my first cut in several outings and produce my worst Sat/Sun scores in along time. Granted I had a number of putts in Rd3 literally sit on the edge of the hole without dropping, my speed golf in Rd4 was woeful. Looking good for 74th place at this stage.

One of the underrated pleasures of playing TGCT is checking the leaderboard on a Thursday morning to find out you've unexpectedly made the cut. I had a pathetic back 9 on the first round only gaining one shot for a -8 63. Second round I'd resigned myself to trying to avoid a demo. Ending up with three eagles on the back nine for a 56 which included a 36 foot putt on the 18th to get it to -23. Had I known I'd needed that to make the cut, I doubt I'd have made it! Good times and good luck all for the weekend.
