Alright Eliters, we have officially reached the "throwback" part of the schedule for this season and week 38 takes us to a classic, Muir Woods by SkinniePost . This is a tight course by the old game's standards (it was built in 2018 for the rookie contest). Distance doesn't really help you on a lot of holes here, in fact, laying back is probably the play quite a bit more often at Muir Woods than other courses we play these days. Call it an homage to the US Open this week also being played on an "old school" course, or just call it me not finding much on the completed courses thread a few weeks ago when I was looking for courses. Either way, Muir Woods has always been one of my favorite courses in the game and I think it still holds up really well for a tournament. Enjoy and good luck!

I thought this course looked familiar. Unfortunately I didn't play it very well and limped to -12 at the cut so that's me done for the week.

Ahh yes, Muir Woods. An old classic (that I only ran into with this game since this is the only one I have ever played). I've got quite a few rounds of this under my belt, have played it reasonably well almost every time. Was hoping it would continue here with Elite so I could maybe stop my slide down towards the green pastures of Kinetic. -10 round 1, laughably bad putting in the front half. Didn't do services by hitting some shots not that great either but yeah, some putts that I was missing were unacceptable, even if some pins had a bit of... summer like colors to celebrate this wonderful season (except in the southern hemisphere, to which my understanding is it's actually going to be winter). Found something at the back, finishing strong with an eagle on 18th, hitting a putt from about 10 feet. Round 2 followed similar patterns. Off on front 9 (minus the par 5 on the 4th which I pulled off an eagle), then back nine was the one with the work. That 250 something par 3 into the wind was pretty gnarly, had no club for it so needed a partial driver shot to even reach. Imagine the shock of my face when I managed to find the ball sitting at less than 10 feet and finishing that with birdie. Then the choking alarm started blaring through the speakers and I was sitting at the 18th tee, needing a birdie for some sweating. Well, this looks fun, goes with the wind. Hit the tee shot perfect, 170 away. Easy peasy, already know which club to use. Nope, hit it slightly off, light rough chip from awkward distance and it's not looking too friendly. Am I seriously choking again? Well, nope. Went for it, and it got paid off for once. Eagle drops, another -10. Let's go. -20 at the cut, weekend golf for once by the looks of it unless I'm getting shafted super hard within the next 20 or so hours. Happy days indeed. Cheers, and good luck.

One round that slipped away from me, probably wouldn't have changed much in the grand scheme of things. Round 3 is the one terrible round from me this week. Shot -3, an absolute spectacle of at least 500 things gone wrong (including putter being ice cold with THREE 3 putts), with just 1 more birdie than the amount of bogeys (5 to 4). Finished with an eagle though after 17 holes of pretty much spinning around in nothingness, so there's that? Round 4 was back to some good stuff. I must have tossed my putter to an open fire to warm it up after a shambolic showing the round before, because I missed only 2 putts the whole round. First 4 holes -4, last 4 holes -4. Middle 10 -2. If my middle had better shots to it, could have probably been on pace for something sweet, but -10 for 3 consistent rounds this week and thankfully 2 of those on the correct side of the week. Also, not to advertise or anything but I decided to stream these rounds which is either a hit or miss for me, and it definitely shows between those 2 rounds. I made the cut which is my only target each week, so I thought why not because I found it hard to believe that I was in contention for much anyways. And even if I had a better round 3, still don't think I would have managed to change my fortunes around. It's one demo mark removed this week though, that's all I could ask. Cheers, good luck!
