Happy Halloween folks and welcome to the Rockies as we find ourselves back at Carbondale, a course by tpetro that hosted a WGC event last year. This course exemplifies what I consider to be all the best components of what makes for a plat course while still playing so damn well. Wild greens, extreme elevation changes and pitched fairways are here this week on top of some cold winds blowing through to make each shot even harder to judge! Enjoy!

Still here... And without red thingies, after last week's 7th place; boy, do I love RCRs and some wind! Which brings me to this week... The fact that this game just plays better with some wind was proven once again by my fourth round: -12 (best round of the week) I'm not sure you're still looking for feedback, Q, but if you are, I would have to disagree on this week's course representing what a Plat course should be though; the greens are simply too silly. Whereas pins on last week's course were surrounded by just as much color as this week, they were placed in sensible positions. This week's pins are not. However, this might just be me with a silly opinion and also, if you are not looking for feedback anymore, just tell me to shut up, and I will... Anyway, solid first round (-11) was ruined by a second in which I got too frustrated by the pin placements (-6), to put me on -17 halfway... which probably means my okay third round (-10) and solid fourth round (-12) will be irrelevant (but had to play them now, just in case). Best wishes Frans

fransslabak - I think for the most part the few inaccesible pins were balanced with some very generous backstops on a quite a few as well. In saying that, I'm actually looking forward to seeing how Kara or Sloaner etc tackle a couple of those pins on the par 3 - 9th as I just couldn't figure out how to hold the green on 187s (only in round 3&4 from memory). Apart from those pins on that hole with 187s, I enjoyed it. Should be my third cut made in a row too which helps with the enjoyment a bit. Finished -20 at halfway and -39 total which was hopefully good enough for a made cut.

This is me, but with hole 15 on R1. In my numerous practice rounds, I have yet to find a way to hold this green. I feel like best thing to do is just go long and hope to chip in for birdie. Would love to see if someone can actually hold it though.

Another week another choke fest.
-34 for the week.
I missed 7 foot putt on the first hole after a great approach set the tone for the first two rounds. Too much nerves when it comes to tour rounds. Have to figure out how to shake them.
Missed cut. I had a really strong round three though highlighted by a beautiful hole out eagle from 160 out. I'll take the positives and carry it over for next week.
Since the change to pro my game has seemingly suffered. I need to find a bag setup and stick with it as I've been changing it around too much.
Good luck everyone!

Good luck everyone! Like going low in real golf, need to stay in the moment and just deal with things shot by shot. Start thinking about your score or the next hole and you can start making mistakes, increase nerves etc.

Heisenberg R1, #9 is into a nice 40-45 degree angle headwind, so even on VF, VF, VF, if you land the ball past the hole and miss the down slope, while using Max Angle (huge stopping power, especially into a strong headwind) and some loft, the ball stops Very quickly. I use Max Angle on virtually every shot (stopping power is OP), except wedges, or hurricane headwinds:

Yeah I had no problem holding the green for those pins. As I mentioned, it was rounds 3&4 from memory (4 for sure) which I'd love to see. It's not an issue anyway as the course was setup fine imo given how many easier pins we also had - was more curious to see how the best players handle a shot like the ones I mentioned.

Heisenberg o_^. My bad! I thought you were having problems with R1, 'cause imo, due to shorter clubs that a lot of people use, that pin is actually harder than R3/R4. I say this quite often, but I'll say it again!, Shot Shaping is extremely powerful in this iteration of the game, much, Much more powerful than any version before it. You can also hit 104-105% for even more stopping power with Max Angles/Lofts/Sidespins. Granted, it takes a bit of time to chart out not only the distance, but more importantly, the correct spot to aim for every angle, loft, and side spin tweak. #9 R3, Medium, Southwest, VF, VF, VF. Drawspin into a perfectly horizontal left to right wind acts like a headwind, reduces shot distance, and increases stopping power. This shot is also into a slight headwind making the effect even stronger. #9 R4, Very High, East, Normal (fairway), Firm (greens), VF (green speed). Drawspin/Fadespin will always increase stopping power (except excessive sidespin with 4i-3i's):

Wish I had come on here before I played my first two rounds. Oh well. Made par on 15 both rounds but played exceptionally well. -12 each round. Sitting T3 as of now, but a lot of heavy hitters still to tee off. Good luck to everyone the rest of the week.

Sometimes you play the hold on for dear life game, and finally bust through the glass ceiling.
I loved this course, now it always will hold a special meaning.
Felt really comfortable this week, and played some ridiculous shots when I needed too.
Just so god damn happy right now. ð
