After delays due to environmental concerns, a strike by the course builders union, and a pandemic, Talking Stone GC is finally open for business. Set in the Southwestern US, this 7,177 yd 18 hole design winds through several canyons before you hit the wide open desert. McGoot and Sons Design set out to build a course for all ability levels, making this a relaxing and fun time for all. Trouble will find you more on the approach and the greens rather than off the tee. Sunscreen is highly recommended especially for the back 9. And be sure to stop into the dining room after your round for a lovely meal or a cool, refreshing drink. Big thanks to WhatAboutAmeobi and Simon Langley for their help and guidance getting this completed

Awesome course! Loving the steppe theme more and more. Got to play around with it for The Bull Moose Club, and am enjoying what others do with it as well. Feels like a resort in Arizona I'd love to visit sometime! Just a couple observations: Hole 9 green had big time red slope right in the middle of it that sent a pitch that landed there totally off the putting surface - it just kept rolling and rolling and it went off the back. Felt a bit penal, but since it's a short par-4, I can see why it's there. Tee box on Hole 10 was light rough...the rest were fairway, I think. I played from the Black tees. Here's Hole 10: Here's Hole 11: Some things I really liked: Loved the short par-3 11th! Fun hole that offers a challenge, despite the deceptive short length. Hole 17 was another standout for me. Fun way to start the closing couple holes. Hole 18 was also a nice finisher...good chance to end your round with a birdie or better. I really like this course, and will definitely be back again for another go. Great job!

Have to look in the designer for that error on the tee box surfacing. Can’t believe I missed that!

Well done Scoot! Desert courses are really tough to pull off. I have started building a few, but ended up deleting them. This was a good effort, and I'm glad you were able to get the feedback you did from WhatAboutAmeobi on his stream.

Nice course, the environment was great, love the steppe / desert theme but being from Newcastle wouldn't know where to start creating one.
Needed to hit the greens in the right areas, or had a tricky put which is totally how golf should be, to make it interesting. Felt like I was just taking driver all the time, and didnt need to think about it too much, this is a solid effort, good job fella.

Nice Steppe theme course you have there Scoot, a few of the greens are tricky so I think the approach game is paramount. Loved the lighting as that's the kind of lighting I go for on my courses. One thing I'd suggest is having a path of heavy rough or cart path linking your tee boxes to the fairways. I enjoyed my round, thanks for designing it.

Thoroughly enjoyed my round on Talking Stone GC! Loved the color palette you used, beautiful planting and lighting. I'm normally not a fan of desert courses, but this really shined. I'm very impressed with your design talents, this is a gem. Fantastic job, will definitely be playing this again!
