Been a while since I got a chance to play one of these properly. Played pin 3, high winds, East - just to change it up a little.
1) Love the simplicity of this one and the high side fw bunkering. Lot of options as to what you want to do with the tee shot, whether chasing distance, flat lie, angle. Don't know the hole/inspiration for this one, but the skyline green was a great start.
2) Great framing off the tee and love the dense treeline to the right. Glad you made the Hogs a bit more visible and that green offers a ton of fun pins. Aiming miles off the left edge of the green to that back right pin was great.
3) Neat spin on the Leven using that camber. I'd always see the diagonal of the two bunkers flipped pinching the drive down the left, but prefer how you've offered it to bait the pitch over the mound. Really digging the understated planting. Shame how the grass looks so different in different lighting directions but the muted autumn trees is a great look and leaving the sightlines open across the plot is something you do so well.
4) Kinda wish this one played longer to force the use of the swale, but having it as the hazard is really intriguing. Needless to say I ended up in it and cursed you.
5) Missed the mini punchbowl within the punchbowl and regretted it.
6) I'm crap at building Knolls so really appreciate one done well. Might have liked to see it play even shorter where it baits people into hitting driver so they leave partial wedge/pitch, but could just be the wind I had. Tiny green on a hilltop is perfect.
7) The smallest of nitpicks, but I'd love to see the green lowered just a touch so the horizon line flows into the green on the left. Love the hole itself. Perfect Eden site and nailed the green contours.
8) Best of the bunch so far. Great angle work and the carry off the tee is really well-worked with the fairway angle. Feels a bit like a Bottle/Road mashup?
9) Love the contrast of green sizes so far when you need them to be different. As someone who doesn't do this enough, it'll definitely be something I take away.
10) Did not have the wind or the pin for this one lol. Forces really interesting shots. This one will feature in a future video for sure - love the spin the front pin provides.
11) Might term this a Bottle or a Valley, but don't know the original it's based on. Great choice off the tee and big fan of the green slopes. Fun hole.
12) Delighted to get this pin on this hole. Fairway bunkering is superb if you're thinking of laying back for a full shot and those false fronts are brutal. Class hole.
13) Double Plateau heading out to the coast gives me Fishers vibes. Never used to like this template, but after the recent research ahead of the video series, I'm really getting into it. Great example here. Might like a little more bite off the tee, but given the next couple, think it works well.
14) Simple hole concept done really well and I'm here for it. Another real favourite, possibly rivalling 8 for me. Love that you kept the approach long so that chasing the ball to the corner off the tee really matters. Nice to see you do the occasional long four
15) Gorgeous approach shot.
16) Hoooooly **** those pins outside the thumbprint are nasty. Great stretch you've got going on the back nine....
17) "Petty doesn't plant". Just wish I had even a neutral wind to go for this. Class risk/reward 17th
18) The three shot par five to finish is definitely a rarity, but I enjoyed the strategy to the second shot and the green contours. Definitely does something none of the other fives do.
Great course pal, really enjoyed it and it's got replayability in spades.
