Off the top of my head there is the end of season fed ex cup playoffs, which consist of 4 events. to qualify, 1st one is top 125, then top 100, the top 50 and the tour championship is contested with the top 20-25 i think. All fed ex points in these events are double i think so u can really jump up the board. This is all info i can recall, maybe not 100% but a rough guide.

That's correct of course, but going by the track record of the TGCT crew it's going to be really close..,

The winner of the final playoff tournament is the FEDEX CUP WINNER. Not sure thats entirely true because i think they make it so the points mean that anyone can actually win the fedex overall if they win the last event but actually only anyone in the top 5 of the rankings going into the last event is actually guarenteed to be the fed ex cup winner if they win the last event eg. Last place wins the event but 1st in the points rankings finishes second so he would take the cup!

Its just a coincidence ( 6 out of 8 - 75% ) winners of the final event ' The Tour Championship ' also won the FEDEX Cup. thanks man, abit gutted about the ruling of non pga tour members competing in the play offs kind of takes away the point of crossing over! wished i new that from the beggining, thanks for pointing that out.

They could go straight off the list - and just have a minimum tournament requirement to be classified as having the card. So say you need to play 10 tournaments on that tour to be eligible to play the fedex playyoff or race to Dubai. Would be a fair ruling imho, as we have free cross overs which is not the case IRL anyway...

I respectfully disagree. "Real Life" there is a tiering between PGA and Euro tours. And PGA Tournaments reflect that. It's the top tour in the world, and 'membership has it's privileges' as they say. While not here from the beginning, I understand an argument was made to do away with that and make the two top tours 'equal'. And that's great in theory, and for a first season... but the best players should gravitate to the best tour over time, because of what it offers them. People might want them to be 1a and 1b, but they aren't (not in real life). They are 1 and 2. And the structures and tournaments offered reflect that. People that choose to play on the Euro tour that had the opportunity to be PGA tour members can't have it both ways. (and I say that as a Euro tour member that chose the Euro tour from exemption, as to me, that was the logical progression after web.com)

(and I say that as a Euro tour member that chose the Euro tour from exemption, as to me, that was the logical progression after web.com) There is no official tiering IRL - the tours are separate entities. There is a de-facto tiering as there is more money on the PGA tour (chicken or egg kind of thing...). I'm fine with the PGA having exclusive tournaments. Didn't really like the free cross-over ruling to begin with, but understand why it was done. And mimicing the exact entry criterias for tournaments would require full time staff... IRL it's not as simple as having a card or not having a card - there are categories. Now - in this game you could also argue that the Euro tour is actually stronger than PGA based of WGR....

Now - in this game you could also argue that the Euro tour is actually stronger than PGA based of WGR.... Which is kind of the point I was trying to get at: It shouldn't be. There are practical reasons against 1a 1b that make 1-2 make sense. One can make an argument that the most balanced tournament weeks we have are during something like a major or WGC, when the top top guys are in one event and next level guys are in alternate field events. Realistically, it should be that way every week. The top top guys should be playing on the top tour, the PGA, as that is where the most tournament opportunities, and the most rewarding ones, are. The next guys should be playing on the Euro tour, and trying like heck to get to the PGA. And so on down the ranks... Now, that's not how it is right now... and as I said, I wasn't here for the initial days discussion... but it is my understanding that the 1-2 was the original vision. To me, it's the one that makes the most sense. I would think that over time (call it season 2 and beyond), the best guys will realize that the PGA tour makes the most sense, and gravitate there. Obviously, this isn't real life, and is for fun, so some compromises have to be made. i.e. you pick one tour, multiple tour memberships aren't an option unlimited crossovers because in our world the two top tours are equal. Things like the PGA and the FEdEx cup will ultimately be too many WGR points to leave on the table, and some Euro Tour guys are going to be on the outside looking in. And their WGR will suffer because of it. Hopefully that gives them something to think about. Since the 'virtual money' isn't spendable... the real competition here is for WGR points. I really think, and hope, that over time the 1-2 tiering evolves because of this, as it does make the most sense.

Or maybe this is just a better parallel universe where the Euro tour is rightfully stronger - the BMW masters is bigger than the PGA and the finals of the race to Dubai is the pinnacle of the golfing year... ;-)
Again, going by current WGRs there's a case for this happening. So maybe these pga card holders are the ones leaving ranking points on the table?

So maybe these pga card holders are the ones leaving ranking points on the table? No no no. Those are most definitely not true. How can you even say the BMW Masters is bigger than the first Major of the year? And the Race to Dubai is most definitely not the pinnacle of the golfing year.
