Course Description:
Ilinalta is a fantasy course based on an inspiration from Skyrim's environment. It plays as a par 72 and only 6,855 yards from the tips. This course has many ridiculous elements(waterfalls with castles as their sources, unnecessarily wavy retaining walls, rocky mounds as in-play hazards, etc.), but will be fun to play for all skill levels. I playtested it a lot with very firm fairways and greens, and it plays better with those conditions, as the game defaults them to be softer. I asked people on Twitter to assist with selecting a name for this course. Big thanks to Justin Kenyon for his recommendation of Ilinalta, after an area in the game Skyrim that has a similar feel to this course. Thanks to Chris Schoemann, Cy Langers, Lucas Howe, and Carol Santapaula for their suggestions as well.
Course Story:
King Infantile Bovine of the Ilinalta valley in Skyrim called for his Hand to fetch the two greatest golf course designers alive to design his personal golf course. "Right away your highness! I will bring Tom Doak and Gil Hanse here immediately!" said the Hand. "No! I said the two GREATEST! Fetch me Tom Fazio and Rees Jones!" said the King.
When the two famed designers arrived, the King said, "I want a golf course that will use 40% of its plant meter... errr... budget on waterfalls and rocks!" With a look of determination and a smoldering vocal tone Tom Fazio said, "I'm your guy."
After months of deciding the number of bunkers to have in center lines and patio sets to have on the clubhouse patio, the work was complete. Rees promised the King he would talk to Bobby Jr. about getting the course on his trail, but Rees knew that only the best of courses are part of that collection. Alas, Ilinalta was just not of that caliber.
King Infantile Bovine went on to take complete credit for the course's design and keeps the membership list smaller than Cypress Point's in order to feel more exclusive. To this day, Tom and Rees deny they had any part of the course that has been seen by nobody outside of King Infantile Bovine's inner circle...
Until now! Enjoy your round(s) at Ilinalta.
