Hazelwood Lake now opened for play. A par 72, the course plays at 7,242 from the tips but with 4 reachable par 5s and two temptingly driveable par 4s does offer plenty of eagle and birdie opportunities. The front 9 plays mostly along the lakeside and the city's financial district dominates the skyline in the distance. The course becomes more inland at the turn with some small elevation changes, before a downhill drive on 17 plays you back to the waters edge and the course closes with a wedge in hand par 3 fraught with water danger on 3 sides. Firm and fast greens offer a fair challenge at 170 speeds and all 4 pin sets are generally balanced, the low speed (pin 2 is probably my favourite) default winds are set low but can be increased for those looking for more of a challenge. This is my second proper course so really pleased it has been reviewed as tour worthy. Appreciate there's a load of amazing courses going on at the moment with WCOD but if anyone can get time to play it would be appreciated - as I'm still a new designer I would appreciate any play throughs or feedback on all aspects of the course good or bad to help my next courses get better. I don't seem to be able to add photos from my phone but the course profile link is below. www.tgctours.com/Course/Details/24626?PlayerId=59837Also massive thanks to b101 and crazycanuck for the YouTube tutorials which have been a big help.

Hey davidpatatAs a newer designer with a tour approved course under my belt like yourself I thought I'd jump in, give it a play and let you know my thoughts. First up I really liked the environment, I thought the planting was great and you had some really good sight lines throughout. On a couple of occasions I thought the planting was a little too close to the fairway as despite being only a few yards off the fairway I found my completely blocked out for my next. Generally I thought you're bunker sculpting was good and the style was consistent throughout. I felt that some bunkers were a little 'bath-tubby' as B101 would say (the back bunker on the 1st comes to mind). I liked some of your hole ideas and could see the strategy you were trying to pull off, but I did find myself pulling driver on every hole I think without much hesitation. Also, maybe look at trying to smooth out the spline points you used for the fairways, I think that would make the fairways a little easier on the eye as they were a bit jagged in places. Finally I thought you're green sizes were very consistent and appropriate for the length of the hole. I did come across some pretty dicey pins though and felt there was a lot of 'un-pinnable' space on a few. A few of the transitions from fairway to the green were a little rough around the edges too (pardon the pun). On the whole I really I enjoyed the round! I hope I haven't been too critical and look forward to seeing what you come up with next JackP
