Just published Valcor High. Decided to go out of my comfort zone and do a Swiss theme. Par 72 and 4 sets of tees.
Tips are around 7200 yards. This should play a medium difficulty. Hope you get a chance to play a round or two. Some fun holes especially on the back.
*** Edit post ***
Just fired the greens keeper. They forgot to put all 4 tees out on hole 11. Will fix and provide an update on any course name changes. Sorry about that. Maybe the greens keeper can be a weatherman.
Big thanks to tpetro for test playing and giving
me excellent feedback especially the now challenging hole 14.
Valcor High
Par: 72
Yardage:
Red: 6,429
Green: 6,668
White: 6,850
Blue: 7,210
Hole 1
Par 4 445 Yards (Blue)
No time to start off with a gentle, easy opening hole. Dog leg left, keep it in the short grass to have a better chance of choosing the right side of the green to land to have a better chance at birdie.
Hole 2
Par 5 550 Yards
The first of 3 Par 5’s on the front. Great first chance for birdie if not a possible chance for eagle. Cut the corner and go over the bunker to have a good chance of getting home in two but be careful of the deeper bunker that will protect any pull shots. If the pin is on the left side you can use a nice draw and the green slopes to that side.
Hole 3
Par 3 200 Yards
Decent sized green to use the slopes to work the ball towards the hole.
Hole 4
Par 4 460 Yards
For a safer tee shot hit 3 wood or hybrid to avoid going into the bunker left. If you use driver the shot calls for a draw unless you have a tail wind to clear the bunker but be careful if you leave it right. An ash tree guards the angle of the 2nd shot.
Hole 5
Par 5 554 Yards
Pretty straight par 5 but keep the tee shot right center of the fairway as the slope can catch a tee shot and bring the bunker to the left in play. Pretty large green with gentle slopes that can either help your ball roll to the hole or draw it away from it.
Hole 6
Par 3 161 Yards
Don’t let this medium length par 3 fool you. A bunker on the front right will catch a lot of missed shots that fall a tad short. Bunker on the left might catch some pulls. Big tip on this hole is to leave it below the hole if you can. The green slopes from back to front for the most part and going down the hill will not be fun.
Hole 7
Par 4 415 Yards
Decision time. Play it safe with a hybrid or 3 wood for a better chance of hitting the fairway and avoiding water. Going with driver will leave you with a short wedge with a really good chance at birdie if you can avoid going into the water.
Hole 8
Par 3 180 Yards
Can be a little tough hole if you chose the wrong club and hit a poor shot. True of any hole really but be careful of going into the bunker on the pins located in the front of the green. A slope will help slow down your approach shot and can back up near the hole. Landing it short of the green and letting it roll up might be the ideal play on pins to the left.
Hole 9
Par 5 578 Yards
The second deep fairway is not intended to be reached on the tee shot unless playing the Red or Green tees with a good wind at your back. The shot calls for a draw to help get you into a better yardage situation to reach in two. If you happen to leave it in the rough the 2nd fairways acts as a rather large bail out zone. Be careful of the weaving creek especially near the green that might catch and short right approach shots.
Hole 10
Par 4 531 Yards
Yardage is misleading due to the sharp dog leg left. Still, it can be a long second shot especially if you leave your tee shot out to the right of the center lined bunkers. A sharp draw is the ideal play to leave you with a mid to long iron 2nd shot.
Hole 11
Par 3 152 Yards
Relatively short par 3 but the bunker in front of the green comes into play if you leave your shot a little short. Also worth pointing out is there is a slope in the middle of the green that protects the pins to the left side. The right side of the green slopes from front to back so players will need to be careful it doesn’t run off too far on the backside.
Hole 12
Par 4 453 Yards
Depending on the wind the player should be able to cut some yards off the corner but be careful of the two bunkers. Also the slope of the fairway will push balls to the far left side possibly all the way into the rough if not careful. Smaller sized green that runs away to the left on the backside of the green.
Hole 13
Par 5 587 Yards
This longer par 5 has a generous landing zone that includes a good angle into the green for the second shot if you can clear the two large bunkers on the right. A relatively small green is protected by one bunker on the short left and the other guarding the right.
Hole 14
Par 4 308 Yards
This short par 4 give the player several options off the tee. Go for it, play it safe on the left side of the green or play it safe on the short side of the green. Be careful if you go for the green as any ball that runs off the back will likely go into the creek.
Hole 15
Par 3 160 Yards
Nice background views await this medium length hole. Distance control is key on the tee shot as there is an elevated tier short right on the green.
Hole 16
Par 4 478 Yards
A couple of options off the tee. Lay up short of the creek with a 3 wood or hybrid or hit a deep cut or fade into the second fairway over the creek for this longer par 4.
Hole 17
Par 4 412 Yards
Relatively short par 4 hole. A deeper fairway bunker guards the left side of the fairway. A wide yet narrow green should test the players ability to control their distance on the approach.
Hole 18
Par 5 578 Yards
Don’t count on birdie on the final hole Par 5. Ideal shot is to land the tee shot just right of the bunker for a good view of the green. Anything short left of the bunker will be a blind 2nd shot. The green has a severe slope in the back middle that can help or hinder your shot so be careful.
Tips are around 7200 yards. This should play a medium difficulty. Hope you get a chance to play a round or two. Some fun holes especially on the back.
