I thought the green speed was good, the rest of the course is so "tough" you deserve a break (pun intended) once you're on the green. You are right. The speed was good. I was just used to the 187s at the Florida course. My preferred speed is 164. I think it's a bit of a shame 144 was chosen for all four rounds, especially considering the default on this course is 170 or so. But I get it, we had fast last week and there's a wide range of skill sets to cater for in the Challenge Circuit. I'm with you though, I'm so used to playing fast greens over the years that I really struggle on anything under 160.

Really like this course. Solid lush feeling to the surroundings. You can really attack it, and if you put your approach on the right tier you have a great chance of making birdies.

Only played the front 9 so far, and already had 2 par 4s where I couldn't get pin high with a driver and 3 wood. Starting to realise that my 275yd driver just isn't long enough for the tours - does everyone use a driver longer than that? Edit: should have waited until I finished the round, then I could have mentioned the par 5 that took a driver and two 3-woods... not looking forward to round 3 on the black tees! I do kinda like the course tho 2 brutal par 4s... my stock driver is 285 and I was fighting the elevation and wind as well. It’s a great course that can be beaten, but don’t bother if your timing is off... sitting in the crap 30 feet below the fairway is no fun.

Tried rounds 3 and 4 with the 295 driver, expecting it to be a horror-show, but ended up scoring the same: -2 for those two rounds, -4 overall. There were plenty of missed fairways, but recovering is so much easier when you’re 20 yards closer.
So I guess I’ll keep it in the bag, and see how it goes next week.
