The first rule about Play Testing Club is you don’t talk about Play Testing Club!!
I’m in the middle of a work in progress and every now and then I have a little round to see how it feels. The problem is, I end up playing the same shots over and over and I start to think, man this course is boring.
Perhaps that’s just because I’m playing the same type of shot over and over.
The course I’m working on is heavily influenced by Lofoten Links and I love the first 4 holes I’ve made. They’re similar but different...if you catch my drift. (Especially 3, it’s nothing like really, but I still like it ...)
Anyway, I was wondering if there are any PC designers out there, at the same level that I’m at with the designer, that would like to form a play testing club? The idea would be to send other members the course file you are working on for good, honest, constructive or even brutal if necessary....comments, suggestions and critiques.
I think that over time everyone in the club would benefit and hopefully improve their design skills.
Just a thought.....
Remember..,..the second rule of play testing club is ....you don’t talk about play......
Yeah, yeah, whatever 😂
Cheers

He gave me some good feedback. I just thought we could maybe gauge some interest and gather a band of designers together that could commit to helping each other to improve. I don’t mind publishing a beta as I suppose it would disappear into the ocean of auto gen crap in no time at all... 😁 Bit like my courses do anyway I suppose lol Cheers

This sounds like a good idea. Not sure if I'm competent/up to the level yet but I would definitely be interested in playing some courses and giving some feedback. This would be especially useful for early, early designs when you have like 3 holes ready and don't want to spoil the whole course for everyone.
I feel like a google sheet is in order. Could have a list of course betas and people could comment on them with thoughts and feedback. Invite only, of course. PTC.

I’m not sure how it works but I can imagine and it sounds good if it’s private. I’m at the stage of planting and tidying up but I’m just not sure if the course plays interesting/fun enough. Would love some honest feedback to help develop the course before I go much further with the planting. 👍

Back in the pre-society days, a group of us would publish a version of our courses with just three playable holes, and we'd set up a Tour of them as a single event so that six "showcases" was like playing one round.
You can't really do that with the game's structure because of the limits on the number of concurrent events in a society, but getting a bunch of folks together and sharing ideas is a great idea. There are two potential benefits:
1. Feedback from a few folks focused on a limited set of holes.
2. You'll probably make some good friends.
