Hi all,
I’m toying with a few ideas currently for meadow grass / fescue on my current project, Brookline.
There’s large areas of yellow coloured long rough but there’s also large areas of long green rough so using the yellow texture is also a no.
I’ve used a standard grass enlarged slightly to try and get it rendering further out but to also keep it looking normal up close. The problem is it’s still only rendering a 100 yards away.
What method have people had best success with?
I’m considering using large buried tips of the grass outside of the direct playing area to make it visible from further out and then graduating it smaller every ten metres or so until reaching a collar of normal size grass.
Anyone got a really good system? Also tried burying trees to starch the earth but in countryside them it only works in steeper areas, even Delta doesn’t quite give me the right look, happy to be corrected if someone has made it work really well in the new game.
Thanks in advance

From what I understand, you are trying to make longer fescue areas. What I have been doing on my most recent course is burying bushes, and in your case most likely a yellow/brown colored bush. From my experience, it just appears to look like longer grass that hasn't been mowed for a little bit.
Hope that works for you.

I agree with the above post, and would say to combine the two. Play Quincy Downs or Black Salt Valley for some inspiration. Definitely increase size the farther you are from the fairway though, as you said.

Cheers guys, will have a mess around and see if I can find something that works. If not I’ll probably do something similar to Merion East or Bethpage and just focus on a couple of areas heavily like bunkers.
