Howdy!
Í had the idea, to create some flying islands on my next fantasy course, not as a playable area and not as a hazard, just as a optical thing in the background. Can that be a reason that this course will not "Tour Worthy"?
Thanks for your help.

Not on their own, no, but if it looks too weird, maybe? The bunkering on the last affected playability and were pretty jarring, hence Approved.

Well well well, the bunkers are still my good old problem, but that will not happend again (hopefully!). And yeah, sure it should look ugly or weird, but i would say i'm not the worst creator when it comes to designing details. I just had this idea today at work and it could fits perfect in this world that i create at the moment. Maybe i didnt liek it when i do it, but i will try. Thank you for your prompt reply!

I will say that if bunkers are the issue though, you’re better served addressing them and practising as those won’t magically improve between courses without work. Check my tutorial and Andre’s for examples. Same bunkers or sculpting issues will yield the same result.

I love that idea. It reminds me of Avatar with the huge floating rocks. As long as the course itself plays well and is “tour worthy” and the floating rocks are done tastefully (not in the way, don’t look awkward or rushed and are well planted) I don’t think it should have an impact on the course grade. It’s the fine line we walk as designers as what is “too fantasy”.

b101 So I'm right in assuming that the size of the bunker is okay, the distance to the fairway / grenn is also fine, its just the whole sculpiting what i overuse? If that is the case on Isla de Lesa, i thing i can handle that or rather, i will try to make it better! lessthanbread Oh yeah, i love that picture, that looks beautiful! I love to create crazy stuff like that, but i am also not sure if i am maybe sometimes a bit over with it, thats why i ask if that could be fine. xD

Really, "tour worthy" is just the reviewer recommending the rangers look at it. Theres tons of great courses that I've marked as "approved" over "tour worthy" because I didn't think they'd see use on tour, and odds are something that went full Sci-fi setting probably falls in that category. By all means, its a cool idea, so if you like it keep at it. Just know the odds of it getting a tour slot are slim.

Of course, there are MANY great courses outside they will fantastic to have on the tour. But i also would love to have another one on the tour, it was just a insane good feeling to have Kohima Bay ( i love it so much, just because i play in this tour where the course was on, that was just crazy xD ) on the tour after tausends of hours creating stuff. But i also want to create some fantasy stuff and not just a "normal" golfcourse, hard to explain with my english. xD Its just, a course like "Quorra Central Base" was tour worthy and some other courses are not (where i was thinking they are much more "casual"), this course was pure fantasy, so it was cool to have this "mark" (also when that nothing means about the course himself) on it, but i also want to like, to have a courses like that on the tour, but maybe its just to "crazy". Dont understand me wrong, its totaly fine for me! I just dont understand sometimes what the gap is between "Approved" and "Tour Worthy". And yeah, maybe i should go much more in the casual-course-direction when i really want to have another course on the tour, but thats sooo boring. xD I have to many ideas in my mind. ^^ Whatsoever, also thanks to you for answer here, i really appriciate that!

Build whatever makes you happy. Building courses specifically trying to get them on tour is overrated.

It's also a fool's errand as you never really know what schedulers are looking for in their rota, as they need to balance courses, styles, difficulties etc

Please continue to pursue this idea! I loved Quorra Central Base and this looks like it could make for another creative beauty from you. I’m interested to see where you go with this!

It looks really cool. My only concern would be potential lag with all those enormous rocks in the air. We won't know until it's built so get to work.

Based on the title of this thread... I was anticipating some really funny complaints about a course review. This is much less exciting. However, I really like your idea. I think several floating islands would be dope, and I feel you of all people could pull it off for sure.
