Hey Anybody have experience with Lidar and real world comparisons? Working on a project but need to get an idea as to the possible outcomes. Is the Lidar close enough to read the greens off or is there too much error in the data when you get to putting surfaces? I expect there would be errors from flags etc but just wondering if anybody has actually had the opportunity to compare the game to a real green. Thanks!

Not sure how it compares in the new game but I played one lidar course in 2019 I am very familiar with and the greens had way more break in the game than in real life.

Two i have done with the course guide information i have the green data came out very well. Problems occur how the blending is done if a bunker is close to the green espically a pot bunker can cause the green to be all over the place.Only other thing i will say don't understand how the tees can be all over the place at times but the greens seem so good...I suppose in the end its how good the data is and in 2k21 how quick the green speeds are in the end its only really a representation of the course and 99.9% of players won't have a clue.

The first few courses I produced with LiDAR I knew intimately and the breaks were all correct, as for severity I thought the greens on the game were quicker which made them seem more severe It’s great in the right hands that can get it truly lined up. The other caveat is matching OSM data to LiDAR data when there’s been course changes etc

I'm messing with green speeds now as well I know this course very well and the countours are great, just need to tone down the speeds a bit I'm testing and fine tuning now optimal for this course will be under 157ft which is where its at now... too fast still (7.4 I think)

I'm working on my first Lidar course and when I imported the data into 2019, the greens seemed very tame when I know they are not. Once I got the course into 2k21, the greens were much better, a little severe even. I'm choosing pin placements based on 187, but will turn the green speed down before publishing. According to the course guide, the slopes seem pretty accurate.
