I am really new to the designer, usually I will do a hole, hate it or jack it up, and start over.. like 500 times. I finally have a hole I am happy with and want to keep building! I design on PS4 (I know this isn't ideal, but its what I got so feel free to laugh ). I noticed when I created a waste/dune type area my planting doesn't show up until I am right up on it. It's mainly the grass and no matter how big I make it only the top or none of it shows until I really zoom in on it. The terrain is such you should be able to see it from anywhere, its a pretty big area. I even play tested it and it still doesn't show unless I am close. I am just wondering if this is just a PS4/graphics thing and when I publish it will actually show how its supposed to on the other platforms? The TV isn't really old, it certainly isn't new. I tried to play with TV and in game graphic settings with no luck. Any helpful tips on how to correct this? It would be silly to spend all this time working on these areas if they aren't going to show up properly. I'm hoping you tell me don't worry and I can trust the experts that it will be alright when I publish it. If not and there is no solution other than buying a new TV or PC (don't think I could convince the wife on that). I will need to switch up my strategy. Just a bit frustrating when you finally have a clear vision and can't figure out if it will work or not. Thanks for the help, and hope to have Mamba CC Black course for your playing or comedic pleasure at some point soon!

That is not an issue with PS4, it's just the way it is in the game when it comes to rendering certain textures. Grasses are ones that seem to only be visible really close up, and they fade away quickly when moving away.
I think some grasses are a bit more visible at a distance than others, so you may have to play around with that. But this is something that has been a part of the course designer for the last few games in this series.
I'm not the most skilled or seasoned designer, either...I also use PS4, so I know your pain! Another PS4 tip: Be sure to save early and often to avoid losing your work when when the blue screen errors and crashes come up. A lot of my work has gone down the drain due to the crashes, and it usually happens when you are trying to multi-plant something. So just a heads up.
I am guessing there are other, more experienced designers here that can help with specifics to help with making grasses appear more clearly, but I just wanted to let you know that this is "normal" and you don't need a new TV or PC to correct it.

There are some grasses that show up further than others and it does help to make them bigger, however, don’t sacrifice realism just so you can see grass from a long distance. You can get away with making grass really big in areas no one will play from. Basically the further away from playing surfaces you get, the bigger you can make things so they are visible. Check out Black Salt Valley and look at how Ben did his large grass areas

not sure what look exactly you are going for, but you can try planting bushes or trees embedded deep so only foliage shows, this can give ground cover, and it more vis from distance

Thanks for all the help! maybe I will try to find some whispy bushes to plant and see if that helps. I really just want you to be able to tell what it is from a distance. Right now it looks like several random piles of sand from the tee. Basically going for a flatter bunker with random dunes with a heathery type look to them.

I guess maybe like the church pews at Oakmont for an example There's also a yellow grass that shows up better than others from a distance so using this slightly larger than normal should work, you could also make it extra large but bury it a little. Another thing you can do is plant one of every grass side by side and zoom out to see which ones stand out and then you can make a grass farm out of these slightly larger than normal and then on multi select you can "select area" and then copy and paste away

Is there a way on a PC to tour someone's course without playing it? To really study it? Hard to do when you're playing. Thank you!

Press F10, F11 will get rid of the cam options. Use controller sticks to fly and explore at will.
