I'm in a corner of my course tee off west. Do you decorate out to driver distance in all directions?
Only a silly person would use target reticle out in the other direction east, nothing out that way...
Do you all fill that blank space in?
my meter isnt filled yet, we'll see... just wanted to get other people's opinions

When in doubt, plant it. You want the view from the green back to the tee just as well detailed as the tee shot to the green. Basically, do a 360 on all your greens and see how everything looks. Also keep in mind the ball flight and camera angles. They show a lot of areas too.

Why not auto-generate trees and then delete them on your course so you don't rape your plant meter but at least your filling it with something and then you can decide what else you manually add to it. Remember, you are creating an environment not just 18 golf holes
