I think I already know the bad answer to this but once you're in PGA 2K21 there's no way to change the course name right? I see some people publish Beta versions etc.. but have no idea how to change the display name. Tried rinsing through Chads Tool but it doesn't work.

You can rename the course anytime you want before you publish...there's a "Rename Course" option in the Profile Menu - right in the same place you find the save or publish options.
Once the course is published, you cannot change the name of it.

so do make a copy of the .course file, rename it coursebeta.course and pub that beta?
then you can still edit the original?

No. The course itself has a unique identifier within the file, so holding two copies of the same course doesn't allow you to maintain them as two separate versions. What you do is: - Publish the course with a course name that indicates it is a beta. - Reopen the Course Designer - Choose "Published Courses" - Select the beta course - Choose Edit. - A new course file will be created On PC, you can copy a .course file to another location in order to maintain it as a backup. You just can't house two versions of the same course in the \Courses folder.
