Could you guys whom aspire to have your courses selected on Platinum (PGA) please design either tree lined fairway courses and/or strategically place trees in an attempt to fast-proof the course and hopefully stop all the crying and complaining in all the forum threads about people using fasts. Thank you.

You're barking up the wrong tree. Designers are going to build what they want.
It's up to the schedulers to choose the courses they want to use.

But we need to have fast-proof courses for the schedulers to pick from. I love the trend of these majestic wide open rolling dunes courses but it’s fast-friendly. All we really need is designers to slip in some annoying strategically placed trees whenever their course gets picked. Like how Augusta did with that one Eisenhower tree.

I'm not understanding how exactly trees will help against people hitting fasts

1) You sound like the PGA Tour. We're not going to dumb down our work and build boring Firestone-esque courses in a video game just to protect against fasts. 2) Designers don't design for Platinum outside of the Major contest. We build courses and Petty picks what he thinks is a good test for Platinum. 3) Nothing is stopping you from hitting fasts yourself so stop complaining

I love the designers here. I check the completed courses all the time to schedule Maximum Daily on PS4.

I'm not understanding how exactly trees will help against people hitting fasts A fast starts out right of the tee box and works back into the fairway. A tree or something creatively placed about 100 yards off the tee to the right would interfere with that fast ball flight.

Although not specifically to combat fast tempo, I definitely design elements to challenge players who primarily play that type of shot. Courses that truly challenge players to play different shots in this game are pretty few and far between. Here's a few ways you can battle it -
- Put bunkers that are not carry bunkers, but rather bunkers that protect against players rolling into them if they hit their tee shots too far (protecting areas of the course where players may hit Fast tempo tee shots)
- Camber fairways to kick draws into the rough on occasion.
- Trees that will block balls that start right of the line by a significant amount.
- Doglegs that require players to play in between yardages.
Definitely ways to protect against the fast. Most designers are (rightfully) afraid of the backlash they will get when they truly challenge players to think differently out there, and there is an epidemic of snobbery against tournament courses on this site, but there are plenty of good ones out there that challenge the best players, and we will continue to try and build more.

I think you would have to fast proof your course on both sides of the holes as players might switch to left handed which gives the ball the opposite flight path.

Never even thought about that.

How about make the fairways light rough. Or like digitalbunny, green texture as fairways.

Or, can you imagine...Planting two giant oak trees on opposites sides of the tee box. Now that would be funny. And make for interesting tourney threads.

A good course in-game or IRL will have holes that vary which shot shape gets favored/challenged. Also, you're then punishing players who use the shot shaper for legit draw/fades (hint:I'm one of them) to control rollout distance and direction of flight into landing areas.
FWIW, heavy rough is usually more penal than bunkers, as many designers don't tweak the firmness/roll, imo.
