Hi guys. Tonight, talking with Bearforlife73, i had an idea and i wish to share it just because, if for someone it could sounds good, i would be happy to help to realize it.
As probably some of you could know, i'm working on Nine Bridges, a Korean course used on PGA Tour. Being not Lidar data available on it, i used a manual measuring method on Google Earth, very slow but, now i can say it, also really, really accurate and satisfying, looking at the final result (i can share some pic if someone want to verify ).
And, although i has been forced to leave the work for several weeks on these last 2 months, i actually already completed this part of the work and now i miss only the rest..still a lot of work, but doable at worst in 3/4 weeks, considering the time i can spend on it.
So said, i know we always missed a bunch of great courses (used for the PGA/Euro Tour, but also other gems) because they misses the Lidar data and for the majority of designers is too frustrating to create a real courses without this data, starting from zero.
Then my proposal is this : having in mind that i'll be probably forced to leave the game for a pair of months starting from the middle of september, to offer a course more to our community, i'm ready to do the same work i did with Nine Bridges on another course, then passing it to another designer on PC to complete the course.
To accelerate the work and to start immediately, i'm also ready to pass Nine Bridges to someone else.
In this way i would be just the "architect", with no credits for both courses, but i don't care at all, cause with this move we could have 2 great course more, instead that just one, before i leave.
Obviously, when i'll return (i hope in less than 2 months) we could restart and to work on other courses..cause the drawing of a course requires 2/4 weeks, depending the time i can spend on it..and i don't dislike too much this part of the work that seems to be so annoying for the majority of us.
I don't know if i explained myself well enough...but if i did it and someone should ever be interested, i'm open to every proposal.
To give to you more details, this is the part of the work i would be ready to do before to pass the file :
1) accurate drawing of tee, fairways, bunkers, greens, cartpaths.
2) measuring points for the exact position of trees, all the stuff related with planting and every building.
3) basic elevation changes (exact elevation from tee to green but with no detailed slopes).
Of course, depending on the slopes of a course and how much material (pics, videos etc) is available about a course, i could also make the entire work on the slopes.
All i ask is that who will complete the work must be obsessed about accuracy on every part of the recreation like me, looking for the best possible result.
And..well..that's all. Have a nice day!
