Can anyone give me some guidance on how to get the lighting on a course to make it look as good as possible? I'm going to start working on updating Austin Country Club for 2K21 and one of the things that I didn't like was the lighting. There's a creek that runs along several holes on the front 9 and it didn't show up well at all. Lighting is definitely one of my weakest areas as a designer. I've tried different settings and just can't seem to get it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One strategy is to pick one hole - an awesome one, and adjust the lighting so that hole looks awesome. Whatever you do, a hole looks best when it is slightly backlit. You want the most scenic holes to have the sun low in the sky and slightly in your face as a player. It brings out elevation work and makes bunkers look great. It can be a little bit of a pain for players so be careful. Also, you ideally want greens to be 100% in the sun or 100% in the shade. Some shade makes it tough on players to see the hole or read greens. Or, you could just say to yourself, there's shade on real golf courses so who cares? Lighting is tough. Make sure to adjust the weather also. Add a little fog or haze, especially if the sun is low in the sky. It'll give off a nice early morning vibe.

Thanks for the advice, Chuck. I think I just need to spend more time with this, but you've really helped me out.
