Inspired by my all time favourite point and click adventure series, Monkey Island GC is designed to deliver a swashbuckling experience for the more adventurous golfer.
After weeks and weeks of work, it's almost ready to go live, and as it's my first (and last) TGC2019 Course I would appreciate any constructive feedback, especially regarding green speeds if possible.
The course is challenging, with lots of water, sand and significant elevation changes but low scores are quite achievable with a couple of rounds under your belt. The course is designed for a Tournament atmosphere with crowds that grow towards the end of the round and your approach on the last three holes that can easily swing the game one way or another. There are 4 Flag positions and 4 tees:
Red - 6642 yds
Green - 6920 yds
White - 7157 yds
Black - 7461 yds
Below are a few shots I managed to get from the flyover's and a video that provides a course overview. I'm on PS4 and have found getting video and images particularly troublesome so if anyone is keen to help me on these do let me know.
Hole 1 - Par 4 (Dogleg Right)
Hole 1 Green approach:
Hole 2: Uphill Par 4 with choice of fairway approaches
Hole 3: Par 3 over water
Hole 4: Par 5
Hole 4 Green View:
Hole 5: Par 4 with elevated tee...
and a choice of left or right fairway that roll down to a secluded bay....
Hole 6: Par 3 by Governor Marley's Mansion .
Hole 7: Par 4 Dogleg left, hitting over 6th tee, how much of the corner dare you cut?
Hole 8 - Par 4, Through the disused gold mine and hitting under a bridge...
Then attacking a three tiered green protected by water and bunkers
Hole 9 - Par 5..Through a shady forest that has a river running through it.
and a green that offers an eagle opportunity if you can avoid the hazards.
Hole 10 - start the back 9 with a par 4 featuring onlookers from the clubhouse, and some rather curious goats...
Hole 11 - Par 3 "Walk the Plank"
Hole 12 - Uphill Par 4 that hits over crocodile infested waters...
...make sure your approach shot avoids the cannibals that worship the second largest monkey head i have ever seen.
View from Par 4, 13th Tee: Big elevation changes here as you pass the cemetary and up to the lighthouse.
Hole 14 - Very long downhill, doglegging par 4 that rewards accurate drives with over 400 yds in distance
Hole 15- Long Par 3 nestled by a smugglers cave.
Hole 16 - "Kraken Ridge" a memorable Par 5 over a ravine that rewards big and accurate hitters.
...walking across the rickety rope bridge up to the 16th green is not for the faint of heart...
Hole 17 - a hidden Par 3, with danger everywhere and huge drop onto a "Black Flag" green.
Hole 18 - A long Par 5 with a challenging tee shot...
... a second shot that offers an eagle putt if the wind is behind, but can also punish the greedy...
And an amphitheatre of rapturous applause awaits the winner on the 18th Green, along with an endless supply of Grogg in the 19th!
Below is a video of the flyovers.
Hoping all the efforts bring some great tournament games. I have a society called "monkey island club" that you are welcome to try this on to experience with crowds in the stands... Or simply search "Betamonkey8" if you prefer...
Would love to hear feedback before I look to publish the final version in the next week or so...
Gaaaaarrrrr!
