I first (and last) attempted a course creation on TGC2 with Wolverine Golf Club back in 2017, my recreation of the University of Michigan Golf Course (which, long overdue is now available in TGC2019). Two and a half years later, I have recently begun work on my first fully fictional project - Blackwind Golf Club. My hope for this course is twofold - first, as I have not touched the designer in a few years and not at all in TGC2019, I wanted an opportunity to familiarize myself with the tools and techniques to create a polished course before the Rookie Design Contest, in which I'll hopefully participate. Second, I fully expect the end result to be good enough to have a spot in the TGCTours Course Database (bonus points for Tour Worthy).
As I go through this project, I intend to take a significant number of before and after shots, if not for anyone else then at least so I can have a history of my progress as a designer. Any experienced designers out there I'd welcome constructive comments here on any part of my work as you follow my journey. I have a vision for 18 holes that I really hope I can execute, but between now and the time I finish the final detail on the 18th hole, I also hope to see improvement in my own ability.
I have almost finished the routing for all 18 holes with minimal to no sculpting, planting, or anything aside from the bare bones layout of each hole. Once I get that in place for all 18 I'll be back with my first batch of "before" shots and begin tackling each hole one by one.
I bought the game on PC solely for use of the designer as I actually play my rounds of PS4. I don't have the greatest computer so I'm designing with graphics turned all the way down...I hope I can still manage to get some decent screenshots
