Are any of you other designers pondering, as you are very carefully scrolling heavy rough around the edge of light rough so as not to make it wavy; "Why am I doing this soul-sapping task when at most 5% of the people who play the course will ever even notice it?" I fully intend to keep on doing it that way, but sometimes I gotta wonder.

I just choose to design wild/natural looking courses where the theme of the course doesn't call for adding heavy rough. However, I did design Mighty Oak with heavy rough around it and took my time and IF I do make another club or more manicured type course, I will take the time to do it because for me personally I would know it's there and that the course wasn't as perfect as I could make it. It's tedious for sure, but I think it's worth it.
I also look for wave when reviewing courses since that's a negative if it's there.

That's the way I feel also Joe, I was just venting because it is so underappreciated - I think only other designers (and not all of them) even notice it. I will still do it for personal pride in my work. As a Lidar designer I try to be true to the course I pick as much as possible, and I do not want to limit myself to just wild-type courses.

I think there are various things in courses that are underappreciated and many players and designers will just play a course and move on. It seems that Contest courses, tour courses and courses by a certain level of designers will receive that extra attention.

I appreciate it Mike (because I’m anal). Thanks for taking the extra time, because I do agree, it is a terrible task in the designer.
