I have been looking for a Lidar Desert Mountain course to do and have come upon a bit of a quandary. I have found that a lot of the courses I am interested in and have Lidar available have been mapped out in OSM, and very many have been published for Simulator use. Not so many are in the TGC2019 game, and very few have been submitted for acceptance to TGCTours. I am pretty sure that is because they are really intended for Simulator use, and although the terrain is accurate, and probably the course it self is playable, they are very bare-bones. See Sand Hollow, Quintero, and Cascata for examples; no or little planting, environment, tilty cartpaths etc. Bradypett23 and Dwightjhall are the designers of a lot of these. I feel that the simulator folks are really interested in game-play and may have more lag and loading issues than us, so it is understandable that they do this.
Now for the question: is it worth mine or the TGC communities time and effort (100 hours or so) to make renditions of any of these courses? Not to pat myself on the back but I think I do a good job on RCRs creating an immersive environment to play in. I have put up a poll and would appreciate every ones opinion on this.

I think there are courses in which environment and "all the stuff" can make a huge difference in the enjoyment while you play so basically yes, i believe it could be fine to remake those courses you like the most and that you think could be nice if better looking. Especially if you can't find better courses to realize for your needs. In the specific case..if you think Cascata and Quintero are the best courses you could to recreate as desert mountain courses..then do it!

If you find something you love and are motivated by it, just do it. I’ve noticed that the Lidar course are getting weaker. This is not a reflection on you or most of the designers. I think there are more people trying their hand at it. And maybe using partial data. But I absolutely love playing well made rcr’s.
