My first course design with TGC was driven by a sense of loss and something that had to be done to fulfill the dream of so many people. I am a retired Golf Course Superintendent. The last course I worked at only built 9 of 18 holes and has since closed down. The dream and vision of this course was never realized and it is a shame. As the back 9 was by far the better than the front 9 that was built. So this course is part reality, part old original course layout plans and part fiction as I attempt to bring those plans to life. The back 9 is a combination of what I know from walking the property for over a decade, from google satellite images and the original course plans. The Island Springs Golf Resort was built (by me and my team) on St. Joseph Island in Northern Ontario, Canada. The architect was Kevin Holmes and the owner was John Gibbs. I was the Superintendent from 2000 to 2011, and the course was closed in 2019. So this is a work of passion to bring the course to life - 20 years after construction was started on the front 9. I do have formal training in Golf Course Architecture and am passionate about the game of golf. I've been to Augusta National many times and love the magic of that property. My favorite golf course architects are Stanley Thompson and Alistair Mackenzie. I love bringing Canadian golf courses to life and I imagine this will be the first of many real or shutdown courses from across Canada. Most of the course is carved from the thick Canadian bush with a few open areas of planted pine and natural swampy springs. More pictures to come...

The is looking towards the #1 Green (par 4 lazy dogleg right). There are lots of deer frequently found around Island Springs Golf Resort. (ignore the hold number - it's not 18, I was looking around in the designer to find angles for some pics)

The is a look up #18. A peninsula divides a spring filled swamp with several different shots off to the tee to setup for a green that reminds me of #12 at Augusta. (ignore the hole number on the screen shot - I was moving around the course designer)

This is #9(again ignore the hole number in the screenshot) with a few of the clubhouse, parking lot, putting green, driving range and cart barn in the distance.
