In the 1960s, the Catoosa Track was the hottest dirt racetrack in the American South. The track, with lights installed in 1962, drew massive crowds for primetime races featuring the best dirt racers in the nation. Events became such a huge party that Sheriff Oscar Greene was forced to shut the track down in 1971 after nightly police raids became the norm. Over the next 49 years, the property was decimated by illegal hunting and logging, though the track itself remained intact. In 2017, an anonymous billionaire purchased the property as well as property surrounding the adjacent Cobb Lake. In addition to the recently completed golf course, contractors cleared and refurbished the dilapidated track, reinstalling overhead lights and the remaining bleachers. The club repurposed several golf carts for racing, and the track opens to members at sundown and is a very popular activity. The course, a par 71, measures just under 7000 yards and is a very enjoyable track. It draws from both Ohoopee Match Club and traditional London Heathland courses. There are a lot of ideas here that I am just testing for both major and CC, so it might be a weird cobbling of ideas in places. Creatively, it's one of my favorite environments but somewhat all-over-the-place in terms of ideas. I'm very interested in seeing how certain features play, so let me know what works and what doesn't.

really fun course here and you are absolutely sticking with your style youve established with this, the matador and olde mill. Insanely fast for a console designer too, nice work.

Just finished my round at Catoosa, and long story shot this is my new favorite course in this game. Period. Birdie time: 4 Bogey beware: 1 (tied as my favorite par 4. An outstanding opening hole that plays through the racetrack) Favorite Par 3: 17 (the only critique I have was the middle 2 par threes being very similar...but that's not picking) Favorite Par 4: 16 (I was gonna say 1, but the sculpting was amazing and I loved the bunkering) Favorite Par 5: 4 (I know it's also my birdie hole, but that approach in between the plantings to a tight runway down the slope to a double green is just awesome) Man...everything from the theming to the sculpting to the color of the rough/bunkering, this course was truly my favorite that I've played so far. Played the tips with medium wind at pin 3, and shot 61 (-10). This course could DESTROY people with more wind and form conditions. Anyways, immediate favorite and 5 stars from me...tremendous work š„š„š„ tpetro

Finally got a chance to play it and loved every minute! I feel you captured the OMC vibe and the Hanse style well here. I loved most of the greens and fun features around the course and felt nothing was out of place. Great work! If only the game had a cart driving mode!...

This looks awesome, going to give it a go. Iām curious, did you get any inspiration from the Glen Riddle Golf Club in Delaware (also built on an old horse racing track)?

Actually, my inspiration came from Ohoopee Match Club, which sits next to an old racetrack which people had attempted to develop into a community multiple times. However, Ohoopee doesn't interact with the racetrack, it's just visible from many holes

Hey Thomas,
Played this one a few weeks ago and had a review written up but didn't have the time to type it out.
Overall a fantastic course. Top notch. I love the feel of this course. The dormant grass with the red sand bunkers and low lying landscape remind me a lot of Cuscowilla. Love the concept of taking an existing dirt track and routing a golf course around it. So hillbilly and cool that you could use it for both.
Hole by Hole:
1. This is a beast of an opener but like many of the holes here there's plenty of room to miss but you often leave yourself some tough chips around the greens.
2. Really like this hole. The cant of the fairway and the green make the shot from the bail out to the right a tough one. once again the seamless fairway to green transitions are so nice
3.Nice little par 3 with the expanse of dunes and scrub in the background
4.Nice diagonal drive. The green is set up nicely to accept shots from various angles depending on the pin.
5.Another nice sweeping drive. great look off the tee. Like that the green is set up to reward or punish shots coming from the aggressive line and bail out area to the left.
6. Super fun little short 4. Not visually intimidating from the tee but that's but lures you into ripping it at the green. the bail out left is death. I drove it there just to see.
7. Gotta love the crossing holes. like how the green pitches to the right penalising the overly aggressive drive down the left
8.Beauty par 3 with a tough green. Long is dead.
9. Love the approach on this one with the green sitting against the hill with the bank of fairway right,.
10. super fun blind approach over the dune.
11. Nice little par 3- like the fall away back left. Love the variable shots that you face depending on where you miss
12. good strong par 4
13.Great approach into this one. low lying green with the view with the hole in the back ground is is just awesome.
14. Another great short 4. the pitch of the green makes for some deadly shots from long left. Lots of options.
15. Hell's half acre! Another fun approach over a dune. tough little green to hold with the third shot
16. Holy pinehurst. Right pin is a monster
17. Fun blind punch bowl green
18 Fun finisher with a fun green.
This course is really a blast to play. super refined effort. Great work.
