Welcome to 2020! After a bit of a haitus, TGCT Sim Tours returns with the meat of the season upon us. I've simmed another batch culminating in the 3rd major of the season (US Open). See below for some highlights of that event. Sam Pond ( Riotous ) is taking advantage of their struggles and has jumped all the way up to WGR #2 despite missing 2 cuts recently. Two 2nd's and two 8th's have vaulted him 12 spots since the PGA Championship. Others making large jumps include Robert Vergara (+94), Jimmy Sheridan ( nevadaballin ) (+113), Thomas Hudson ( ohheycat ) (+67) and Matt Osche (+64). In the battle of the TGCT admins, Tim jumps 7 spots back into 9th in WGR while Doyley slips 2 to 11th. Jeff Reese ( SmilingGoats ), on the strength of a T-2nd at the US Open - his best finish by far this season - jumps up 44 spots to 91st. Good to know my virtual virtual golfer is outperforming my virtual golfer that is outperforming the real golfer that is me. Are you following me?

Darryl’s offseason workout regiment of not working out is working out nicely. 😁

More simmage! We got through another WGC event as well as another Major. We have a new #1 in the WGR and things are looking pretty crazy as we head closer to the playoffs for season 2.
WGC - FedEx St. Jude Invitational (Top 10)
POS Name Total Thru Round R1 R2 R3 R4 1 0 Daniel Sheehan -21 F -5 68 63 63 65 2 0 Christian Orland -12 F -1 66 63 70 69 2 3 Jon Robinson -12 F -3 66 66 69 67 2 1 Alan McSpadyen -12 F -2 68 70 62 68 5 0 Daniel Blanton -11 F -2 66 67 68 68 5 0 Brad Martin -11 F -2 70 69 62 68 7 14 Art Vandelay -10 F -6 68 66 72 64 7 20 George Reteguiz -10 F -7 67 70 70 63 9 -6 Oscar Cooper -9 F 1 71 64 65 71 9 2 T.M. Baker -9 F -3 70 67 67 67 9 -4 Vikki Whittington -9 F E 64 67 70 70 I haven't double checked but I think this may be the record for the largest win - I do seem to recall one other event with a large gap but not in a big event like this. Talk about a steamroll! hmammoth
The Open Championship (Top 10)
POS 84 Name Total Thru Round R1 R2 R3 R4 1 0 Jason Nichols -13 F -3 67 68 65 67 2 2 Matt Fritsch -9 F -1 67 68 67 69 3 -1 Damian Williams -8 F 1 71 65 65 71 3 20 Matt McKeown -8 F -5 67 69 71 65 5 -3 Scott Mayo -7 F 2 67 65 69 72 5 1 Steven Smyth -7 F E 68 68 67 70 5 14 Andi Smith -7 F -3 69 69 68 67 5 14 Brad Martin -7 F -3 68 69 69 67 9 14 Chris Rawesy -6 F -3 70 69 68 67 9 -3 Pat O'Dell -6 F 1 67 69 67 71 9 10 Rausch Hodges -6 F -2 66 70 70 68 9 4 Ryan Hammond -6 F -1 68 70 67 69 9 37 Derek Palmer -6 F -5 69 71 69 65
With the win, Jason Nichols jumps to the front of the line in WGR. He won recently at the RBC Canadian Open and then takes his first Major. He's the man to beat now!

When I win, I do it in style, rekted is that the term that is used the young people use these days. Still outside the top 20 in wgr though. I am going to have to work on that.

Started looking at some performances here and got carried away in excel, as usual, for some reason that I don't understand, so figured I'd quickly share. This is through the first 10 events of the 2019-2020 PGA schedule only (through the RSM), includes WGC instead of the Bermuda Championship (since the PGA stat website is broken for that event somehow), and compares round averages for the winning score, score needed to get inside the top 10, and overall field average (sim round averages are only from those who made the cut):

Well, it is with great reluctance (but also relief) that I have decided to retire from the TGCT sim tour. The constant frustration and travel have worn me down to a nub. I think I will just give up touring and settle down as a club pro in some warm climate, maybe North Central Florida. To all the remaining Sim tourers, I wish you good scores and good earnings!
Over and out.
