Thurlestone has been described by the legendary British commentator Peter Alliss as the UK's equivalent of Pebble Beach. I was fortunate enough to be able to play this course about a month ago on a trip down to Devon and it didn't disappoint with some breathtaking views. Hopefully I can do it justice. Here is an overview after the LIDAR import with just a bit of work on the coastline And here is the 1st hole that is in progress at the moment Andy

Wow. What a course. Kind of crazy that it just smacks you in the face with the most dramatic coast line in the early holes of the round.

It definitely does jwtexan The 1st hole is a lovely gently opener and then you're hit with the joy of the coast. We played it in around 30mph winds and that made for a very interesting experience all round!!! Andy

Thurlestone was originally 9 holes - which were the current 1st-7th, plus 17 and 18 - and those 9 holes are MILES better than the (boring) middle loop from 8-16. Hence why those early holes are the awesome looking ones.....
I'd say you are going to need to put in fictional championship tees on here Andy - the course in real life is really short and easy (unless it blows a hoolie (which means gale in local slang)) - in game, people are going to shoot sub 50......
THe early pics look good - but that first hole is only about 260yds (par 4) in real life for example, and all the par 5's are only ~500 yds - too short for the game.
Make sure you add the other tee on 7 btw - over by the cliffs, not far from the 6th tee.

Cheers rob4590I know that it would be torn apart on the tours but I also like to play it on a simulator so I'll probably make 2 versions like you say with a fictional tournament setup. I'm guessing you're pretty local to there so you may well be getting lots of messages off me looking for info ð Andy

Wow. What a course. Kind of crazy that it just smacks you in the face with the most dramatic coast line in the early holes of the round. Hi there, my names Chris, I'm a scratch golfer at Thurlestone, been there for 30 odd years. I dont know if you are still doing this, but if you are and have any questions, I'd be more than happy to help. I've thought about re-creating Thurlestone myself, but as an absolute rookie in course design, I'm probably not going to bother. Would be great to see it in-game but as Rob as already alluded too, it would be quite easy in it's current layout, and would need some beefing up as well as some of our famous strong winds!!
