It wasn't long after the successful mini golf contest ran to completion that super friends gdog and Victor Lane went searching for a plot of land to purchase for their own brand new putt-putt course, feeling quite inspired by the fantastic creations provided to the TGC Tours community by the designers from the contest. They had seen it all, from traditional short holes and brick walls, to winding contoured greens, and even creative contraptions to navigate during the round, so they knew exactly what they had in mind.
gdog was all set to finance the land purchase after his successful sale of his stock-market shares of the Ferrero Rocher company, and Victor had a vision in mind for a challenging par 2 course where the ideal strategy was determining which line and pace was the best opportunity to make an ace on each hole, an idea partly generated by the time he spent on Garbage Island Mini Golf with renowned designer CiB0RG.
A plot of land just outside the city of Shephardsville was found that featured a small, dry piece of ground that had been unable to be developed by bigger projects due to the shallow lake surrounding it and the rugged hills in the distance, but it was perfect for the 359 total yards that the two would need to craft a mini golf course and starter's shack, and it came at a good price due to the developer's desperation to unload it. After the title was signed and the cash was paid in full, these mini golf enthusiasts began laying the foundation, building walls, and planting hedges that would become the routing of a difficult par 36 design that was sure to frustrate even the best of putters.
With special thanks to Terry Grayson and mayday_golf83 for playtesting and providing feedback, we are happy to announce that One Putt Wonder has been opened to the public for play. Naturally, the first ones on the greens were the course financier gdog and designer Victor Lane, putting in a few rounds to set the low score. Unfortunately, -2 was the best they could come up with on opening night. We'd love to hear about your trials and tribulations on the course!
Grand Opening proceedings are still ongoing at the facility, and rumor has it that TGC Tours photographer karma4u will be on-site taking award-winning photographs, so make sure you say "hello" if you see him.
Enjoy!!!
Pro Tips:
-we do the best we can with the contact physics of the objects, but every now and then you'll get an odd bounce or get "stuck" in a contraption, so the best advice we have if you get stuck on your tee shot is to just bite the bullet and declare an unplayable to re-tee, because it will work out better in the long run.
-the goat's name on hole 18 is "Clique", so your best strategy for a guaranteed ace on that hole is to kill clique!
