Please let me introduce you to my entry into the Rookie Design Competition 2019 - Cedar Pines Village
Set in an isolated area of the Western Himalayas in Nepal lies a very little-known golfing treasure that only the very rich can afford to experience.
Unless you are lucky enough to be one of the 18 residents that call Cedar Pines Village home the only way you can access this course is by Helicopter.
The course itself is set among one of the flatter parts of the Himalayas however don’t let that fool you. It has a large amount of elevation change as you get around the course. As a result there are no motorised carts allowed here since the very tragic incident at the 4th in 2010 where the local barman Rick O’shay had too many beverages at work before attempting a quick front 9 before sundown and unfortunately drove his cart off the edge of the narrow bridge. Look for the tribute to him when you play the 4th hole. RIP Rick
The course plays 7622 yds from the tips and has a 2nd shorter tee at 6857 yds. Due to the hilly nature of the landscape the course layout does not bring you back to the clubhouse until the 18th. The original designer ensured there were many places along the course for you to stop and enjoy a break under cover or just have a cold drink from the water coolers.
As this course is so isolated and expensive to maintain with external labour the owner of the course decided it would be a great idea to house all workers onsite. You will see scattered around the course 18 townhouses (see if you can find them all). Each family that lives in these is responsible for the maintenance of 1 hole at all times. To assist with this, maintenance sheds are in multiple locations around the course for easy access to supplies and machinery.
To ensure the visitors have a premium experience the area around the clubhouse is expertly designed to ensure a seamless transition from their helicopters direct to their 5-star accommodation which sits between the Clubhouse and the 18th green.
I officially invite you to come and enjoy a round at Cedar Pines Village, chat with the locals and enjoy your stay.
