Hey all! My very first post and hopefully it's a good one. Figured I'd throw some pictures out there of my new WIP.
A little background...so this is my third course design overall, but my first from scratch as my other two were auto-gen's that I simply just tweaked a little here and there. While these pictures are more on the "beauty shot" side of things I am looking for a little feedback on whatever catches your eye whether that be layout, planting, or anything else. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.
A little info on the course:
This is a Swiss theme, par 72 track that is clocking in at just shy of 7500 yards from the tips (black tees) with four tees and four pin sets. This is a purely fantasy course and draws no influence from any particular place or course. The front nine is nearly finished, but for a few minor changes and some planting (maybe more depending on your feedback). The back nine has had no work done on it other than laying out the holes with tees, fairways, and greens. As far as difficulty goes...Its hard for me to judge right now, but I would probably put this at the CC-AM level, although with some tweaking and work on the greens it may crawl into the CC-Pro level. Who knows...
Anyways, onto the pictures...
Hole #1 landing zone/approach area. This hole is a "medium" dog-leg right leading slightly uphill to an elevated green. The fairway bunkers, while in play to any errant shots, should not be an issue as the fairway is plenty wide to accommodate most tee shots (we want you to get off to a good start you know?). Two bunkers guard the green (one short and one long).
Hole #3 tee off. This medium length par 5 bending slightly left as it provides a great view of one of the many surrounding mountain peaks as you stare down the large, fairway encroaching bunker to the right and the icy depths of the alpine lake you must first cross. This hole is a steady climb up to a slightly elevated green complex. Hitters beware, this will be nearly impossible without a decent tailwind to reach in two, but dont worry there are still chances at eagles calling your name.
Hole #4 landing zone/approach area. After your strenuous walk up the fairway on #3 there is a bit of respite as you tee off on this short par 4. Dropping nearly 90ft from the tees you are treated to the namesake of the course, Cascadia Falls. You may also see your fellow golfers teeing off on #5 just across the raging creek. Use caution on your tee shot however as the left side is lined with dangerous drops and O.B.
Hole #5 green complex. After teeing off from across the lake/river atop the cliffs and dropping another 70ft or so you reach the valley floor and may be treated to this wonderful sight (if your tee shot is long ). Another hole that comes with a warning...water surrounds this hole on three sides as the river snakes its way further into the valley.
Hole #12. This hole has not been completed or worked on at all. This is simply the layout. I would like to cut some sort of path/walkway to the right that snakes around the water to the green, but haven't really decided on that yet as I have not yet begun to do any detail work on the back nine yet.
Thank you everyone for taking a look at this and again if you have any comments or feedback I would love to hear it as I am trying to better my designing skills.
Also let me know if you are interested in seeing more as I can always grab more pictures. Thanks again and happy golfing!
