Season 2 Week 28 The Open at Royal St George's Sandwich Congratulations to UncleVirt who takes the Major on -22 and a 4 stroke win over stoneysooner on -18, Tuffguts is 3rd 6 stroke back on 12 under. Round of the week is an incredible 62 (-8) in round 4 by UncleVirt, probably one of the best USE rounds considering the conditions, well played. Shot of the week is this great 47 foot eagle putt by Lkeet Next up Season 2 Week 29: Mill Ride Classic

I am applying to join this tour and understand the rules as written but I do have one question; are we allowed to turn "Ball Trails" on? I know no follow cam, but without the ball trails on I cannot see the ball after hitting any club longer than a 9 iron.

I know no follow cam, but without the ball trails on I cannot see the ball after hitting any club longer than a 9 iron. I should think ball trails would be "frowned upon" but not "banned." The main thing we want to avoid is people getting a read of the greens, which your trails shouldn't provide. We're aiming for ultra realism, but if you really struggle to even see the ball, I'm sure we can make allowances for you

What is the difference between Ultra sim and true sim? The main difference is that we don’t use the loft box. Also no follow cam and no putting marker. We also have rules on no chipping out of bunkers and no intentional slow backswing to control distance. All in an effort to get the most realistic experience.

What is the difference between Ultra sim and true sim? Just to add to Anders' point, what you see in true sim is that the "dialled in" players, who know the formula of using loft box (and potentially use the flick swing to stay straight) to acutely control distance, are then not punished/challenged by the no green grid, because they always end up with short putts. So the top of the leaderboard on true sim is basically the same numbers under par as normal tours! There's really not that much that is "sim" about it, imho. And people who aren't "dialled in" players fall even further behind! In ultra sim, we have maybe 2-3 guys each week who are massively under par, but still not as massively under par as true sim, and the rest all have very realistic scores! Ours is the "true" sim challenge

I really like no follow cam...especially on drives and approaches. Like real golf, you don't know where your ball finished until you get to it. Nothing like hitting an approach, then seeing your ball 3 feet from the pin.
One other difference, is the banter back and forth between the USE players. Lot of great golf talk, and getting to know each other.

Oh, there is no one person picking the conditions for USE - all admins share in this - and we believe we get variation doing it so. Sure, there has been some weeks now with some windy conditions - not sure how it will be in Mallorca coming week, but I think it will be more calm weather in Denmark.

We definitely don't have as much high wind as PGA and Euro tours on here but, at the same time, the game does need challenge added to it. Same goes with the greens. I do feel we have a good amount of variation on both, within events too... We have noted that we had a lot of high wind recently, part of that was because we had the UK open, and wanted to protect the course. We have agreed to give players a bit of a break in the next couple of events You can see our conversations on tournament conditions, and have some input, in the "tournament conditions" thread on our forum
