Welcome to Aotearoa Golf Club. Aotearoa ( pronunciation) is the Maori word for New Zealand and translates to "the land of the long white cloud". Situated on the edge of New Zealand's biggest city, Auckland. Aotearoa Golf Club makes its bidding to become the host of the Challenge Circuit Championship. This par 71 course measures 6,920 yards on the score card and boasts wide fairways and small greens. Despite the wide fairways most holes have a subtle strategy to them where one side may have flatter lies and/or provide a better angle to the pin. Simply aiming driver down the centre of the fairway is rarely the best way to score. Because the course sits on the side of a large hill with more than 170ft drop from high to the low point any misses above the hole are going to challenge even the best short game to make up and down. Judging requirements - to play from black tees.At least TWO holes with ZERO bunkers - 4th and 10th At least ONE blind tee shot - 4th At least THREE par 4’s under 400 yards - 7, 11 and 17 Extra requirements At least ONE Par 3 greater than 230 yards - 10th At least FIVE par 3 holes - 2, 6, 10, 14 and 16 At least ONE Drive-able par 4 - 17th

The contouring in these pics excites me, I'll have to fire up a round on this one.
Edit: Yeah, great course. #17 might've been my favorite and I drove the green and four-putted for bogey.

Hey Jason
Gorgeous course, loved the plot.... just felt natural
beautiful clean lines, very good bunker sculpting... I too drove 17, within 6 feet, missed my eagle.. ha ha ha
That view behind 14 is just breathtaking Absolute wonderful work on the "out of play areas"... You've built a course that just felt real to me....
Great work bud...Absolutely loved the course..
good luck in the contest

Really enjoyed this one. Skins match here was lots of fun. Course offered plenty of opportunities and rewarded good golf. Thought the selected trees, plants and textures gave quite a unique look too. It definitely felt New Zealandish, even with no clouds. Great job Energiser.

A really enjoyable, it's scenic without being overdone. The sculpting on the fairways and greens is great, the greens weren't too tricky. What I will say is I think this course does have the CC flights in mind as it's geared towards master clubs but not too much of a challenge for pro clubs.
I suppose I favour it because I managed an eagle directly followed by a hole in one.

Played this on stream last night and really loved it. This was pure, classic design, with the perfect feel and difficulty for a CC contest. To me, this one is a sleeper, because it accomplished its goal of being for the correct target audience. Great job!
