Just pointing out the original vision toddfather - as I think it's important to understand the admins stance in this case. Know that aliases are allowed - but the word "appropriate" hides the devil in the detail As per my original point, if the boards fill up with "amusing" names... 1) they'd get pretty old pretty quick. 2) they'd take away from the original serious intent of the Tours. Just my opinion of course - I have nothing further to say - will leave other to voice theirs now.

I've always wanted to be a part of a tour with some drama in the Spoiler threads! Since being on the PGA Tour is out of the equation for me I have found this week here to be interesting.
To add to the conversation all I have to say is that I understand why "silly" names goes against the original vision for the tours. It makes sense and is a very respectable rule to at least have a believable name as to not be utterly distracting while looking at the leaderboards. I couldn't help but notice Larry saying his inspiration was "the hilarious" Hector Vazquez alter-ego... I just wanted to clear the air that I didn't intend for the name itself to be funny. I simply copied the name "Hector" from the bad guy on an episode of Dexter I was watching that day and Vazquez from the Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez. The name seems normal to me. I did have fun with it by creating a forum persona for Hector to be a latin american man trying to make his way into the world of golf among other BCT superstars. I am still having fun doing this! I hope no one thinks the name is meant to be goofy for the sake of being goofy. If the admins tell me I need to change to my actual name I will gladly do so.
You might ask why I changed my TGCT name in the first place when going to the BCT: 2 reasons... 1. I noticed when googling my own name that a bunch of stuff for TGCTours comes up and I don't really want that stuff cluttering any professional presence I have online so I decided it was a good time to switch names. 2. I thought it would be fun on the forums to have a new persona to have some fun story-telling and such on the spoiler threads. Let's be honest... before this migration to the BCT the threads were DEAD. I think it's good that people are having fun discussing their rounds and also telling fictional tales of their golfers tribulations along the way. It's all in good fun!

OK I'll try to clear up my point of view before this gets out of hand. I in no way whatsoever intended my opinion to offend anyone or for anyone to think that I was calling out a mod that was not my goal, so if I did offend anyone I am truly sorry. I'm not sorry for posting my opinion as I believe that is everyone's right and while I respect your and others opinion I would hope you treat mine in the same manner. My comment about a nanny state isn't directed at anyone but just one man's point of view that things seem to have shifted to the point that you can't say anything without offending someone in someway which I think is pretty obvious seeing as it seems that I managed to offend people which was not my intent. My intent was that I really thought his name was fine and just bit of fun and seeing that the BCT forums were Dead, that a bit fun and making the BCT forum alive again was more important than a silly name. One final point, after 50 years on this planet and also seeing my fair share of real life golf clubs, is that this sort of talk and social banter is common place in most golf clubs that I have been to while enjoying a relaxing beer with friends.
Once again I am sorry if I have offended anyone.

On that note, for this week on the BCT: Chantres just left "Play it Again Sports" with refurbished pro v1s after spending half of the $50 earnings from last week, ready to take Darryl and the rest of the field down this week, Keopke style!!"Chantres couldn't take down a yard flamingo." -Hector

Alright, I'm finally home and in a position to respond to this thread a bit more completely. Here are my thoughts and rebuttals on this topic:
First, and probably most important to me, is for everyone to know from my mouth that I did not change my name on this website to make a mockery of anybody or any tour level, and actually, conversations with the Admins about that had started a couple weeks before I even joined the BCT. The rationale behind my decision was because my Twitch channel was growing, my Twitter presence was growing, I plan to do more with YouTube in the future, and quite frankly, I just didn't feel that my real name needs to be spread all over the internet like that, because it distracts from the things that I'm already using my real name for on the internet, like my sports podcast. So, the concept of taking on an alias was strictly for personal reasons and the Admins were aware that I was going to do that ahead of time. I chose Victor Lane because of obvious reasons, but it still sounds like a real name.
Upon joining the BCT, which I decided to do with a group of friends here on the search for more fun in the game than we were currently having on our different tour levels, some of them also took on alias names, for whatever reasons they felt appropriate or stated already, and that was their decision. We then thought, "wouldn't it be fun to create a fictional narrative for these guys like they are characters in a career mode that we are trying to win with?" So, as you've seen on the forum threads (which were dead until we got here), this is all about good 'ole fashion fun, nothing more, nothing less. We are not making fun of anybody, we aren't trying to be demeaning, we aren't trying to make light of being on the BCT. In fact, JUST THE OPPOSITE. We were all pretty fed up with our career progress on the regular tours and thought it would be a great time to come down here where everyone is on the same clubset and same level and then create rivalries with each other. That's what it's all about, and to be honest, the last three weeks have been a blast!
Regarding the use of alias' that are inappropriate or completely ridiculous sounding, I am on record as saying that I 100% agree with the admins on their stance on this, and I respect their vision to have the leaderboards represent a clean, professional look for the community. As such, I agree with their decision to deny Larry's proposed character name, and I'm sad that Larry chose to delete his account after that. I really enjoyed having Larry in this community, so it seems that maybe he was thinking about leaving already and this was the catalyst. Therefore, Paulus, I recognize your desire to back the Admins up on this, but there was no need to really, because none of the guys I came down here with are fighting against that.
There are actually a ton of alias names on these boards that you guys don't even realize, this didn't just start with us! If they are real-sounding names, you'd never know the difference. So again, Victor Lane, Darryl Montgomery, Hector Vazquez, and others we know of, are NOT trying to make a joke of this, but we are electing to use false names for different reasons, and the rules state that we are allowed to do that. We mean absolutely no disrespect by that, full stop.
Now, with that said, I'm having a great time in BCT and I'm not going anywhere, so please allow my character Victor Lane to get to the practice range and prepare for this week's event!

I’m a little confused by one thing. Was Laz playing the beginner tour as well as the main tours? I’ve asked previously to make a second account for that purpose and told I wasn’t allowed?
