I really can not hit from where I am. I tried. took a freaking 10 on a par 3 as there is no drop zone that I could hit out of. ONCE I got it in the water.

I think it goes away after attempting a shot from whatever predicament you're in which is rather ridiculous

Maybe that is what happened. I took one failed attempt out of rocks and got stuck again. Then looked for UnPlayanle. It was a nightmare. The drop was 60: yards away across a lake with a 16mph head wind. The only clean drop was 65% rough among plants.
i took a 10 on the par three and the ranger escorted me to the next hole.

This happened to me in a round a few weeks ago. Thought the lie was unplayable but couldn't find the option to drop my ball somewhere else. Then I noticed at the bottom right of the screen, an option to press L1 or R1 which took me back to the Tee. I may not be entirely accurate with the L1 & R1 option as it was a while ago, but there was definitely an option there that got me out the crap.

I think it goes away after attempting a shot from whatever predicament you're in which is rather ridiculous To an extent it's not. When you declare your ball unplayable you have three options under penalty. 1. Take a drop two club lengths away no nearer the hole. 2. Take a drop as far back as you want on line with the hole. 3. Take a drop where you hit your previous shot from (or tee it up if it was your tee shot). Making an attempt to play a shot and then declare it unplayable effectively removes the third option as your previous shot is now where you're unplayable. Options 1 and 2 should still be available in game, but these could be useless depending where you are on the course.

Well. Where can I pick options 1 or 2. I did not have that choice until my 3rd shot among the rocks that went nowhere Finally I managed to hit the water

I had to hit the shot and then the drop could only be from the rocks again. 40 yard flop (Pros) eventually got me out of there after 4 attempts.
Bring on the Promo Event next week

I "THINK" on mine, you just hit the start button on the controller. The menu you have up looks like the menu I'd get when you hit the escape key, it has the tabs on it. The other one, the one with the Declare Unplayable, is one that comes up during the shots, and doesn't have the tabs at the top.
I didn't think it disappeared, or was shot specific, because once I figured out you 'can' do this, I've used it at various times.
The other night, I had an errant shot and I ended up behind a grandstand. The ball was in the fairway, so the game would think it was playable. but I couldn't get it over the grandstand, so I declared unplayable. moved it back and still hit the grandstand again, so I declared that one unplayable, and moved it back even further. LOL. But I know I've used it in other various situations too.
I'm not home right now, so I can't check, but I'll be glad to check tonight if no one else answers this.

However, we know that HB/TGC* don't seem to know all the rules of golf. *The game, not the forum. Just to be clear.

Declaring unplayable certainly was in TGC2, though I can count the number of rounds I've played on TGC2019 on my hands, and I've not needed an unplayable yet.

It’s there but if you try and fail it then disappears the 2nd attempt as you can not go back to the last place you shot. It’s normally on the Option menu but if you can not legally go back to the last position it just disappears
