Hi Guys
Was wondering if anyone else is in a similar quandary to myself. Joined the site November last year (so I am a newbie) Started on the Pro Clubs can easily shoot -40 with Pro Clubs especially with the CC-Am courses. 1st few tourneys was unlucky not to finish top 10 then got a quick promotion and then a promotion mark. I personally think I could stick with the Pros and move up the leagues eventually getting to CC-A. However the real aim would be to compete in one of the top 3 leagues and of course you need to use Masters.
So went with Masters last week and shot a -27 not bad but no chance of a promotion and this week I've ended up -17 which may leave me getting a demo.
I suppose my question is… do I stick with Pros and try and get to CC-A.. then switch to Masters to try and get to Web.com ? or take the hit now and get used to Masters accepting possible demotion marks and stagnating in a league until I get some Perfect-Perfects with the master clubs ?
Has anyone has had a similar issue, what did you do and did it pay off ?
Cheers Keeno

I experienced this dilemma. Exactly the same!
Today I use PRO in CCA and i'm happy.
When promoted (it will happen), I change to master and I adapt.
It's easier to get stuck in a division with the master than with the PRO.
By the way. using the pro also training for the master, because I try to stay in the middle of the central mark.

I think most people in the CC leagues have struggled with this. I chose to play with Masters in Q school aiming for Web and missed by a couple shots and fell all the way to B. I've been playing almost exclusively with Masters and it's very very difficult to get promotion marks and i am still in B with 1 promotion mark. I did try one tournament with Pro clubs just to see and i actually play better with Masters and have stuck with them every since. Not sure why i can't play better with pro but the benefits of hitting Masters well outweighs the benefits of playing Pro for me.

I play on pc using a mouse and Masters clubs, I was using Pro clubs but found I was becoming lazy having a bigger margin for error, which led to me not enjoying the game as much and I wasn't scoring any better anyway, I shot ten under today in the first round CCam F Div, no bogies, I had to really concentrate on each shot, but at the end of the day play with what you are comfortable with.

I would say, stick with master... get as much practice as you can before reaching the pro level... you will eventually get promoted.

Use whichever club set makes you enjoy the game more.
If you're better with Pro clubs and hate using them, is it worth your time to keep using them that indeterminate amount of time before you reach Web.com? Would you rather have a chance to climb the ranks quickly, or compete with players at your level even if there is a mix of club sets?
I can't answer that for you. There's no "right way".

Appreciate the feedback, interesting variation in reply's. Il try and power through with the masters. I remember going through the same process with Beginner clubs to Pro in the old game. Does get really frustrating with the masters when you know you could have placed your approach shot 3ft from the pin and instead you have knee wobbling 20ft putt instead. Practice makes perfect-perfects I suppose

This has been discussed a LOT but I play Masters for fun and Pro on tour.

Practice makes perfect-perfects I suppose I started with Master Clubs, but my game was never improving, became very frustrated and moved down to Pro's. Started to enjoy the game again but there was no challenge, so I moved back to Masters. I figured that if I want to move up the ladder I'm going to have to get used to using these clubs anyway. Can't say I'm enjoying the game with Masters but that's because I'm too inconsistent, I just can't seem to string 4 decent rounds together. But at least the challenge is there and it's more like real golf.

I've decided that the Masters clubs are too frustrating for me. I play video games as a way to de-stress and unwind from regular life. I've also realized that, although I like to compete (and win), it's not my PRIMARY reason for gaming.
I'll admit that the Pro clubs are too easy with all the other in-game assists turned on.
To counter the lack of difficulty, I've begun playing in the USE (Ultra Sim Experience) Society and on the TST. The combo of Pro clubs and no assists make the experience more difficult without the frustration of the "Very Fast" downswings muckin' up my fun.

I am also playing since November and currently at CC-F, but never dared to use the Masters... Can someone please elaborate on what is exactly the difference and why should someone move there? I am just putting together pieces of information here and there, but never saw something like a real guide/comparison Master vs Pros. If I didnt get it wrong, the Masters allow you to hit bigger distances but it is harder to hit a Perfect/Perfect shot? Is the blue cone thiner or why is that? If the only motivation, apart that at some higher societies it is mandatory to play Masters, is to hit longer distances... I'd rather stick with the Pros. I am not feeling that often that I am missing yards, there are just only some long par 5s that maybe may benefit and be reachable in two... But not enough for me to change, if that is the only reward.

But not enough for me to change, if that is the only reward. Yes, the club distances are an advantage, and it appears the only advantage. In TGC2, the top clubs had the benefit of greater spin and the ability to "stick" approaches more easily. I don't think that is part of the Masters set on TGC19. To be honest, I think there are three reasons people play the Masters clubs: 1) - they are physically gifted enough to use them without experiencing the frequent very-fast downswings that some of us do (especially those of us on Xbox), and therefore can benefit from the longer distances. I have seen many new courses with par 5's well over 600 yards and I think these are an attempt to give an "advantage" to those who play Masters clubs. I'm perfectly fine with that too. I'm playing for birdie on those holes, while Masters guys (and girls) are playing for eagle. Fair enough. 2) - they love the more difficult challenge they deliver and have the patience to deal with the wild hooks and slices. I do not have that patience. 3) - they think it reflects on their manhood to play on the "easy" clubs. I've heard many comments in this vein. Just my two pennies.

I feel like the Masters clubs still stick better on the greens than pro...may not be as much as TGC2 but i wasn't able to hit masters in that game. For whatever reason i can hit masters just fine in this years edition and have found in my experience that my approach shots have less rollout than pro clubs.

Personally I use masters in all events except for the tgctours. I like the challenge of masters and feel that I’m getting better with them, but it’s so hard to be competitive in the tgctours events and Pro clubs help me in being successful at earning promotion marks in cc-c. I’m bringing the Master clubs to the promotion event in a few weeks, but ultimately I think everyone finds a balance that works for them.
