I didn't intend to make a release post for this, but enough things changed that I figured some notes were necessary. This was a long port, as this was one of my earliest RCRs in TGC1 along with Magnolia National, and it was previously in the now-botched Boreal theme, so I switched it over to Rustic and completely replanted it. The extra planting meter space also allowed me to add more details around the perimeter. I was able to improve the rock planting around the quarry holes as well. From a course perspective, things have changed a little since the US Open. Most fairways are just slightly wider, allowing the fairway to run directly into most of the fairway bunkers, and a decent amount of tree reduction has taken place to open up views across the course even more. The 2nd and 14th holes also saw some changes to the hole bunkering. In real life many of the US Open tees have been removed, but I've chosen to leave them in to be played as the back tees at 6900 yards. Due to the severity of the greens, I have left the default green speeds at a med-fast 167 feet. At recommendation of Royce I consulted ACES-R-WILD on lighting techniques, and used his settings with a few slight tweaks to make things brighter. From what I can tell through studying, it seems like the most common prevailing wind is from the Southwest, if you want to play with accurate wind ( Update: Based on testing, it appears that you need to turn the Wind Direction setting in the game to West to actually get the correct wind direction). It looks like that area fluctuates in direction a lot, though, so don't quote me on that being the prevailing wind. Lastly, my first release will be without tournament objects, released as Merion East Golf Club. The tournament version won't alter the course at all, it will only add crowds and objects. I don't have a final name yet, but should likely be Merion East (Tournament), and could potentially be done today or if not, sometime this weekend. Have fun on this little gem!

Published Merion East (Tournament).... hey I had a lot of time today for once!
I went through my footage of each hole from the 13 US Open and tried to match the crowd movement and stands/camera placements as closely as I could. What a great tournament that was, I'm glad I got the chance to skim back through my videos and relive some of the great moments.

One question - is the course situated on the plot so that game North represents real North?

What a great tournament that was, I'm glad I got the chance to skim back through my videos and relive some of the great moments. This is Awesome - such a great course. One question - is the course situated on the plot so that game North represents real North? It's not. Honestly I hadn't even thought of that. When I first laid this out in TGC1 I don't think the marker even had the directions on it yet. So I fired it up to see, the direction that should be North on the course is actually West on the cursor in the designer. In theory that would put the correct prevailing wind setting in the game as Southeast. It's actually all wrong in the game, though. I'm not sure if that's an issue just with this course, or if the wind direction in the game doesn't actually correspond at all to the direction cursor in the designer. After testing several different directions, West is actually the direction that you would set in the round to get the correct prevailing wind. I will update the OP accordingly.

Great! Figured out this wind direction thing when working on the set up for the TST Ryder Cup. Wanted to mimic real life wind speed and direction, and had to figure out the right settings using Google Earth in the end...

Played it last night and this morning. It is as I recall it. You have to score on the front nine and just hold on for the back 9. I did not hold on and fell off the back. It beat my ass with no assists. Always been one of my favorites because it has a lot of risk reward to it. Do not let that 6900 yards fool ya. It has a lot of bite.
Ohh and F that second hole pin 1. That pin has ALWAYS given me problems!
Thanks for making sir.

"Merion East 2022" is now published in 2K21 and 2K23.
I started this update last summer to coincide with the 2022 Curtis Cup. This reflects, as far as I can tell, all of the updates from the Gil Hanse renovation. This includes redone bunkers, some green expansion, new fairway lines and mowing lines, the lengthened 2nd hole with new green, and new 13th tees. A full update of the planting was also done, with a better attempt at replicating the twisted, gnarly pines throughout the course. Improvements were also made to the clubhouse, fences, and the neighborhood around the back nine holes.
Greens: I wouldn't go much higher than default speeds. Some pins are tame, others being above the hole is death. Round 1 pins reflect the one pin sheet I found for the Curtis Cup, and the rest are a mix of 2013 US Open pins.
Wind: My best educated guess after researching average winds in Ardmore... for a mid-summer wind set it to South in the game. Use Southwest or West for variation and more shoulder season winds.
Tees: The tips on every hole are the Black tees. The Blue tees are a little shorter and provide more variety, especially on some of the par 3s.

This is out in the wild now.
I almost forgot, I owe a huge thank you to PithyDoctorG for the treasure trove of photos and green maps from the Curtis Cup!
