I don’t set out to hit a short swing it’s just a consequence of a very light touch on the top of the joystick, I don’t practice it. I played most of the TW games and I don’t remember doing it on that game I think it’s just started for me since TGC2 trying to hit the Pro Clubs straight.

Game physics are better since the last patch but i think theyll get rid of the short swing. About time 2!!!!! Define short swing. I "flick" the analog stick. Most of the time I do it hard enough for the stick to hit the stop. Sometimes I don't, but that's not on purpose. I have shot feedback turned off except when on the practice facility, so no idea how it looks to the API during tournaments. On the range, my swing usually registers in the 3/4 to Full range with a few that have rebound "hooks" drawn. I've played 4 tournaments at TGCT and not been warned or DQ'd yet. If anyone cares, I think you should play how it is most fun for you. If one society DQ's you for this, that or whatever, then play another society. Or keep playing the one that DQ'd you. It's not like they can erase your score off the console leaderboard. Ignore the noise. Have fun.

If the game stopped recording the input the moment the stick hits the plastic I could live with it but it doesn’t and I usually end up with my line going of to the right like a 90 deg. angle of course the game then interprets that as a push because of where the line finishes, or it rebounds back down the screen in a V shape. I never had that on any of the TW games.

Just started the CC-Pro event playing with Master clubs. Through 9 holes I had 6 very fast swings that I can't attribute to anything I did differently when compared to my other swings through 9 holes. Cost me 6 strokes to par. Luckily I was able to hit my 3rd and 4th shots close to escape with pars and bogies. Even par through 9 holes but really should be 5 or 6 under.
Nothing wrong with the game though

Nothing wrong with the game though I don’t get the very fast mine are mostly very slow or slow especially with the irons where mentally I’m thinking about hitting a nice little iron shot in close so I have to really concentrate on keeping the tempo the same.

I have what is defined by the forum gaggle as a "short swing" or a "flick". I think for some they don't really understand what it is and was curious as to hippy's version of it.
Basically if the feedback starts at the midpoint of the circle, and the feedback ends past it I don't understand what the issue is. If we are to translate it to a IRL swing then the feedback white line going past center means you club ends past the point it started, so extrapolating that would mean you ended up past the ball on the tee (or fairway, rough, sand, etc) and hit it. I mean, it is pretty obvious that hitting the top of the analog causes all the weird "rebound" white lines that scraggle off in funny angles. To avoid them, and the subsequent altered ball path from HB recording this, it should be wanted to avoid hitting the physical top of the analog for a dependable swing in a game where precision is needed.
I simply don't buy into the "it (physically) needs to hit the top of the analog" or "the feedback line needs to hit the top of the circle". To me this is an overswing (for funny reading I enjoy fadge's "Mongoloid" references, btw) to where IRL your follow through would continue on to where the club shaft is clapping your back (with a long club like driver). That isn't a fluid swing and is overswing, IMO, and if a proper under/over swing model were to be put in game like some ask for then this would not equate to a 100% power swing either, but rather a 100+% swing. I do not advocate for this type of swing because it would get exploited to no end for extra distance off the tee as the max extra distance would then just be a known and planned for as someone's "regular" swing.
I only bring this all up trying to guess one persons' view of a term/swing type that may be different from others, so don't think this is all aimed at your reply and you personally. Impossible to know what they mean without more clarification as one simple sentence has a lot of broad or implied things involved.
I do try to have fun, but all of a sudden something I have done for years and years gets talked about here on the forums and you can just "see" the sideways glances or "read" the implications between the lines. It has me not sharing things about my rounds as much any more because earlier on in the TGC2019 cycle I posted a video where the topic of the video didn't get talked about, but rather "wow that line is so straight" did get commented back. So it makes me feel like I am an implied cheeser or whatever even if they don't say it or actually mean it (they might, though, who knows). It has made the interactions here less enjoyable this season because of it, and I am doing nothing different than I have for years. It would be different if the game came out at release with a "short swing" generating a recoil (non-swing) or a less than 100% swing. I would have addressed this immediately and altered my swing when the game came out. But to ask for it NOW is silly and is just wanting others to conform to the way THEY play. I don't ask others to learn the short swing/flick so chill out, have fun, pass your API check, and the results speak in the end in an unbalanced game, platform to platform, where the swing needs "fixed" for those actually having mighty struggles (mouse and XB1 players most notably, but others as well).
*Off my little soapbox*
Edits: Cuz my grammar sucks.

The difference is your ball flies straighter if you have a cut of swing. I get the mechanics of how ppl swing it and its not cheating. Its an advantage tho.the swing should still go all the way to the top and whatever line your on it should populate it to the top so that every body is equal. After realising this it made me think is that why people were getting same shape on the cone on tgc2? Because of the Flick swing? Hopefully the new patch forces the line to the top of the box on everything so were all swinging the same. As opposed to ppl passing api with wonky short swings where the ball flies at zero. And the person who swings it fuller and straighter being more offline!! How is that equal? ?

Im guessing youve swung the same since tiger days bob. Its not you its the game dude. Its a massive glitch. Its no ones fault other than the designers. The game is good on the whole. Short swing lines are the equivalent to two blokes playing cod and one having aim assist on and the other not.

I think HB need to make the tempo equal for all club sets across all three platforms before doing something about the short follow through.

Yeah, the short downswing advantage is a problem mainly just for a very few top players on PS4 - it's a big deal in their world but in the grand scheme of things it's trivial compared to the entire XB1 community being screwed with master club tempo.

Looking at the results that were shown he’s putting the top players good scoring down to them using a shortened swing when in reality it’s been shown the tempo on master clubs is easier on that platform then the other two anyway. Let’s get this tempo thing evened out first before we start worrying about the short swing. I’m on Xbox by the way and not one of the “top” players on PS4

Personally, my swing is a momentary hold at the top, but if im not playing well i might start to flick. The problem is no matter what i personally do, even if i barely flick the stick up, it always registers as a full swing while others can do the same and get the cut off short swing. What it comes down to is the game is basically deciding which players are better than others.

The more I play having read the discussions on here I’ve noticed that the actual swing tempo speeds up (club comes back quicker)and the graphics go glitchy when this is about to happen (altered swing mechanics) I swing backwards and forwards very quickly and if done right you end up with a fast perfect. The problem is is spotting this and having the confidence to do it and actually getting it right.
The point is is why on a released game that has a cross platform world competition is this happening? As it’s a major disadvantage for Xbox masters club users you are constantly worried and in 2 minds what type of shot tempo you have to employ, instead of just aiming your shot and executing the swing, and the fact that hb ban you from their forums the second you direct any sort of criticism their way indicates to me they have their heads well and truly in the sand. This needs to be sorted in this patch as I for one a loyal tgc player am at the end of my tether with this crap that they have released
