Sorry to repeat myself a bit, but Fred 's nick name was boom boom because of being a long hitter. Guess you don't need to kill it go get distance 'eh. It’s timing

It’s timing I agree but do the laws of physics change randomly in real life? If you swing exactly the the same after hitting a perfectly straight shot does it duck hook or slice in real life? Is it possible to slice/hook a pitch with a lob wedge 15 yards? I would hazard a guess at the answers to all these questions being no, but apparently all the geniuses at hb seem to disagree

I think most people who play golf, would agree that flop, pitch and chip shots were the easiest to execute IRL. Seems ridiculous that I can line up a drive down the centre of a fairway and land the ball around 3 or 4 yards either side the majority of the time, and yet with a flop shot 20 yards from the pin, I can be 6 yards wide with a slow swing. What's even more stupid, is that I can be 15 yards too long with a fast swing. To do that in IRL I would have to seriously miss hit my shot, probably putting my back out at the same time. I do love this game at times, but HB seriously needs to look at the short game mechanics and make this part of the game more realistic.

I believe the "anticipated" outcome of the programming of the short flops, chips, pitches was to try to emulate the "real life" experience of catching one thin, hitting a screamer, skulling it, shanking it. It was built into the program once you toggle those clubs in my opinion. Clubbing up and lofting up and the use of partial swings for better results almost proves this fact. The game is a mess, if people are enjoying it in my opinion they are manipulating their input to achieve success or have stumbled upon something that would equate to "the sweet spot" within the swing plane dynamics and I will preach until proven otherwise. Every video game ever made has a secret "sweet spot" where success is guaranteed.

I posted about this very thing at HB just a couple of days ago. People were mentioning what they would like to see within the new update. I stated that this is my biggest pet peeve in the game.

I, for one, love this game. That is all. Hear hear!
But...
It's tough playing the game on XB1 all the while wondering when the VFs are going to hit. I'll admit, I'm not sure how much disadvantage there is (didn't see the actual data in the other thread), but I'll bet it costs me a stroke or two a round. My own putting and short game cost me a bunch more.
As for Freddy. I fell in love with his golf swing watching the '92 Masters in college. If I could only shorten my swing just a bit, it would be more like his than it is John Daly. I was able to get a picture with Freddy at the 2001 Bay Hill. Nice guy. And just so....so cool.

I play on the XB1 as well, with Masters clubs. I'm not too too concerned with the "added difficulty" of it. I haven't experienced any other platforms so I can't compare and contrast. Even if it is more difficult I don't mind that much to be honest. It is what it is, can't worry about it too much when I'm still having a lot of fun competing in the cross-platform format.

A couple thoughts. One, a good flop shot in real life is very difficult to pull off. Two, I could not possibly slice or hook a pitch shot IRL as much as some of my pitches in this game. This is where the main advantage with pro clubs lies IMO. Pitch shots adjustments are needed IMO for master clubs. Three, I would like to see a rule that if you play with master clubs, you cannot be demoted to cc-am.
Finally, I was lucky enough to see Sam Snead in real life and to this day, is the sweetest swing I ever saw, silky smooth.

Imop flop shots out of the rough when the ball is sitting up is not the hard IRL. It's when it's burried or sitting on tight lie is when it is very difficult. When burried you will have major issues with distance control . When on a tight lie it has to be perfect. I mean perfect.
I have always had a good short game IRL and what I see most people struggle with is the short game. Some of it is skill for sure but most of it is time on task. People IRL don't put enough time into practicing thier short game. They just go to the range and hit driver or thier 8 iron. How many of you have seen people suck out of bunkers IRL? It's really not that hard if you know how to do it. They just have never learned how to do it.
With this game I think the short game is pretty close to real life minus the flop shot. It has never been right in this game. It's to easy and it spins backwards way to much. Really it should not spin at all . Only time it should spin is out of a clean lie out of a bunker.

This patch better resolve the flick swing issues. Its totally unfair that some can do it on command whereas I can try it and not come close to completing the swing, yet whenever I start my downswing its automatically registered as a complete downswing. I tried to pull it off the most recent round I played and out of at least 40 flick swings that werent completed on my end, only 2 actually registered as a "flick swing." So basically some can do it without even trying and others cant do it no matter how much they practice it.

Practice playing how YOU feel comfortable playing. The "flickers", well, I don't think they manipulate anything at all. Some people have swung that way since early TW days methinks. If people want to try and copy those people's swings it doesn't bother me at all. I enjoy playing here no matter what. If people want to swing whilst naked and eating a hamburger on one leg, then good for them.
