Round 3. Felt fairly solid from tee to green. Just nice to hit the ball straight and make some putts again. Turned off shot feedback past two weeks, trying to hit P/P especially on Xbox was starting to play with my mind. Two bogeys on the card which felt like it stopped the momentum from a good round. Misread a few putts especially driving the par 4 and had a 11 footer for eagle but couldn’t find the right read in the shadows. Ended up with a -3 for R3. Felt the same way as Arthur, especially with a great first to keep it going. But there are birdies for the taking out there, go get um F’ers!

Finished The FedEx Express at -23. Missed a promotion mark by one stroke. That's an exceptionally good week for me. Probably was as close to getting a promotion mark as I'll be for a long time. Kudos to everyone who *did* get a promotion mark; well done! There’s a tab at the bar on me from last week Jeff. Whatever you want man. Nice shooting there. Totally forgot to put up last week’s score here. It wasn’t very good that’s for sure. Oh, I don't think you want to do that, Will. They've got some nice single-malts there. Had to be imported from a long way away and are priced accordingly! I wouldn't mind a pint of a proper cask ale, though....

Curvature of the earth.... jeffbdvs , allow me to introduce you to Kyrie. He's got some ideas about that. I had to Google that one. Not a fan of the NBA since the Bird/Magic/Jordan era. More WWE than basketball these days. (Back to golf: hope you get your R1 form back for R3 here at the Marsh!)

What an up and down performance at the ol' Fighting Irish Invitational. R1 -3, R2 -9, R3 -1, R4 -4. I've been struggling at times with my approach shots. Perhaps it's just a master clubs thing. Driving seems to be ok though. Oh well. -17 isn't too bad for me, but after being -12 through two rounds, I expected better. On to next week!

Round 3 with new patch was a real struggle.
Level par round with 4 birdies, 4 bogeys and 10 hard fought pars.
Had aspirations of wiping out my last demo mark. Now I just hope not to get that second one.
Onward!

Finished this week’s tourney right after the patch. In hindsight should’ve put in a couple of practice rounds to get use to it. The thing I love now is the flop shot. Much more realistic in my opinion. The pitch shot was also updated from what I’ve read.
To the details.....was looking to make a final push to at least get it to -20. But the round went totally backwards. Misjudged shots around the green and except for the first couple of holes didn’t make any putts for the rest of the round. I did chip in for birdie on the last for a bit of consolation. R4 +5.
Final total for the Fighting Irish Invitstional -10. Good sign that I was able to kinda get myself out of that rut. Good luck the rest of the week guys!

R3 post-patch: -3 for -8 overall. The birdie-followed-by-bogey bug bit. Drives with Master clubs not as arrow-straight any more. Definitely a difference in control compared to short irons and wedges, even when the swing path is within the blue box. Putting is harder to get the pace correct, but that is probably more a function of me turning off shot selection (now that avatar opponent club display is fixed) than patch tweaks. With the "imaginary" putting marker at the hole instead of pre-set short or long, I have to adjust my math and backswing length. Flopping, chipping and pitching have to be re-worked on the range. Mostly guesswork post patch. FTW: Sure am glad I held off making those custom yardage charts! Let's see some low numbers out there!

But I was limited in time last night, with a hols party tonight I might get some rounds late otherwise it will be Saturday.

Jeff, that's not a bad round at all considering you played with the patch. I finished R4 at -4 for a total of -8. All you have to do is shoot -1 to beat me. No pressure but when you putt in R4 you might here me say miss it. LOL Seriously Good Luck in R4. Wade

Round 4 started like a house on fire...that was burning down and nobody called the Fire department! Bogey on the par 5 2nd was due to leaving a one foot putt short . Doubled 4 thanks to a good tee shot that ended up in a bunker short. Careless bogey on 5, world crashing down around me. Staggered to the 6th tee at +4 for the day, what am I to do? Give up? Go through the motions and drag myself home? NO!! "You are a Vandelay! You are no quitter! Well, maybe you are BUT NOT TODAY!!" Birdie on 6; Iggles followed on 7 and 10. One more birdie on 15 then some timely saves (and a few missed opportunities) and I managed to turn around a disaster round to a -2 finish. Phew! -12 is not great but matches last weeks score so at least I didn't backslide with the new patch. If I'm lucky, I might clear that last demo mark and start working on getting some of those sweet green promo marks. Onward!

Wade and Art, you guys are safe. My round 4 was a disaster. I took a 10 on 17 to go along with a couple of doubles and a couple of regular bogeys. Shot 82 for the round.
I think 44 putts says it all. I simply cannot putt with the changes I made to my game after the patch. Having the "invisible" marker at the hole with shot selection off has had a ripple effect. My pace is different so my line is different and my eye still wants to use my old pace and line to aim. Downhill putts are the worst. On fast greens, 6-foot/2" down putts hit like they were a 2-foot tap-in go 8 feet past the hole if it doesn't get in the way.
So you say, "Hey Jeff. Why don't you turn shot selection back on and quit whining about your putting?"
I answer, "Because the only reason I had shot selection turned on was to stop the wonky club animations when playing friends online. I'm trying to play the best version of sim golf that I can. So now that the online club animation (with shot selection on) bug has been fixed, the marker needs to be at the hole and not pre-set by the caddy to help my uphill and downhill putts."
I have to learn how to putt all over again.

You had me laughing this morning reading your descriptive round! I have felt the same on many rounds. I'm still adjusting to the new patch and it will be interesting to see how I play in the next tournament. Best of Luck going forward! Wade

I was going to say why don't you change the settings when you play a tournament and then change them back when you play with friends. Well, I think now that would make it harder on you to adjust your putting technique each time. I'm still trying to adjust to the patch. So far I have noticed the pitch shots are more forgiving when my tempo is off. Also the flop shots roll out a little bit more. The game can be frustrating but that makes it fun for me. Nothing is automatic. I hope you get your putting sorted out for your next tournament. Good Luck going forward! Wade

Unfortunately I won't have much of either until after Christmas. Speaking of that, Merry Christmas everyone! Have a terrific holiday season with friends and family!
