Can't remember when last I played a desert course (can't remember what I had for supper yesterday either) and I enjoyed the change of scenery. Can't say the same for my game though - had more than my fair share of off-tempo swings and missed too many expect-to-make putts. On the upside I made a few expect-to-miss ones too. Consistently average, 7, 10, 10 and 9 under, finished up on -36
No man's land this week, no green ticky but safe from a red one too

Back to Pro clubs this week...
Struck the ball almost perfectly all four rounds, but didn't have any feel with the putter until round 4. I think I got used to playing the 187s in the U.S. Open course designs and kept overplaying the break on these medium speed greens. So many missed 15 footers!
Ended up -12 -10 -10 -15 = -47. Not good enough for a win but probably a borderline top 10.
Okay, back to master clubs and very high winds on these U.S. open courses. 😄

Well, 2 more rounds done and a 61 and 62 to add to my 67 in the first round, should push me nicely in to that top 100. Played well in both rounds but just can't keep bogies off the card to stop them being REALLY good rounds. Just got to finish it off now, a decent round 4 and I should be strike free! Then I've got a decision to make. Playing with Masters is ok for clearing strikes but it's so difficult to crack that top 20 for a promo mark. I don't enjoy it as much but I really want to get to Web, might have to bite the bullet and drop down to Pro. Up the City!

Giraffe72Should be a promo event this month. May be worth practising Masters like hell for this - bloody hard to get out of CCA without it using Masters clubs. DP.

Rewind. Total disaster in round 4. Started steady but only -1 thru 5, missed a tiddler of a birdie putt on 6, one of those that you just stare aghast at the screen for a few painful moments as you try to comprehend what you've just seen. And then the par 3 7th, I don't want to talk about it. Snowman in April Never really recovered, every time I got one back I seemed to lose it again straight away. 76. Striiiike 2.

Honestly, using pro clubs feels like cheating. I think I could get a green mark about every other week with them, whereas with masters it would be a rare event. I'm more proud of pulling a top-40 finish in Masters qualifying with master clubs than in winning an event with pro clubs. Would love to see CC-A go to master clubs required as they are a better challenge and at least for me way more fun to play with.

I would rather play with Master's but I know I need to play with pro to try and keep up with the crazy low scores. I have been playing the Web courses with Master's and I'm always either making the cut or right around the cut line so I'm ready to make Masters a full time thing if I could just get a few more promo marks to get out of this CC purgatory....

Error free final 36..... 7 under par for round 3 followed up with a final round of -11 totaling 34 under for the event. No GPS, no RDS just another run of the mill CC-Pro middle of the road slog. See y'all next week...

I don't think cheating is the right word, but it's certainly a different game. I'm the same, I'm fairly confident that if I used Pro clubs I could accumulate some green ticks and move up. Not saying it would be easy because there's some good players at this level, but I'd get there eventually. Problem is I don't find the game nearly as engaging playing that way, so I've been stubbornly sticking with Masters and constantly trying to clear strikes. Pinning my hopes on the next Promo event at the moment.

Been fighting like hell to stay on Web, I’d be using the kiddy (pro) clubs if I fell down here to get back up competing with people using the big boy clubs. Too many society hero’s shooting stupid scores and using the handicap of the easier clubs. Didn’t realise you were down here Jamie, I thought you were up on Euro? Use those Pro clubs and get back up there mate, the people playing here using them don’t leave you any choice.

Very nice course this week. Somehow it just feels and looks different to the normal courses one sees when firing the game up. Thoroughly enjoyed my round and looking forward to play another 3 rounds here.
Par 5's got me though - made 1 bogey and 4 pars during the round, the bogey and 2 of the pars were on par 5's. A hot putter sorted out the rest of the holes and was the main contributor to a -12 opening round. I doubt the putter will last, hoping I manage to hit my apps closer the next few rounds!

Made the switch to Masters this week and enjoyed myself a lot more than I thought I would. Really nice course which didn't punish my wonky swing too much and made for some interesting decisions. Ended up on -7 which I'm quite pleased with, although I'm expecting it's only downhill from here on

Played round 2, wind was howling, got mugged with more than my fair share of slow backswings, hit all of the fairways, missed a lot of the greens, those I did hit was still ways off, putter was on holiday and on par 3 8th a 16 mph advertised cross wind played more like a 5 mph breeze and ball found a watery grave after a clean strike. Five birds, one bogey, slipping down fast this time round. Still a nice course. And then I noticed the in-game l/b after the round - someone (undertaker63 or sommin like that) shot -19 for the round! Sometimes I just hate this stupid game

I had an absolute nightmare in round 1. My tempo was fine throughout but I managed to catch the edge of nearly every slope I didn't want to catch. Even when I hit a good shot I got no luck. Putting was beyond woeful, longest putt of 9 feet, half a dozen lip outs and the real highlight a 3 putt bogey from 6 feet on the 6th. Really pissed off! Still love this course though, and still ploughing on with Masters clubs in round 2. It can only get better, right?
