Please do not insinuate that people better than you must be cheating. It is difficult to know what is holding you back. You should visit the driving range section of this forum. There are lots of great tips.

Thanks, I’m off to visit the driving range! 😊
....and am sure that the vast majority who play on TGC tours are adhering to the spirit of the wonderful game that is golf.

How would even be possible to cheat?

Had a wild 4th round. Started off bogey eagle bogey eagle. Then had my first albatross on the back 9!

Hello everyone,
I've been lurking in the threads since I discovered TGC Tours a couple of months ago and I recently got fast-tracked to CC-G but I wanted my first post to be in the CC-Z thread where I still feel at home!
I am litterally 4-5 weeks removed from struggling to shoot even par but this week I shot a -27 (including my first ever ace!) with a -1 4th round. It's crazy to think that I would consider -1 a blow up round a couple weeks ago but I just wanted to share a couple of tips I have found to make the game more enjoyable in the begginer stage (which I am deffinately still in!)-
1)PRACTICE You have to learn the language of the game i.e. how wind direction, elevation, lie, etc. impacts your shots. Once you figure out a consistant swing pattern you can start to naturally plug in the numbers and dial in your approach shots. On the other hand, in my opinion the best aspect of this game is the putting because there is no "magic formula" to reading putts. You truly have to spend time getting a feel for how the game works on the greens. Looking at a 10ft putt with a couple inches up/down and heavy break can turn into an existential rabbit-hole with the pressure of playing an offical round. This is the cheek-clenching tension that makes TGC Tours such a transformative sports gaming experience! So join a random society or play an intersting-looking course, press play on your favorite podcast, and enjoy playing golf on your couch!
2)HIT THE FAIRWAYS In most cases I would rather be 160 yards out and in the fairway than 50 yards out but in a bunker/the long stuff. The more variables you add to the equation of each shot, the wider the delta of possible outcomes is. On a flat approach shot from the fairway to a flat green with no wind it's pretty easy to land your ball within a hula hoop. Even with a perfect swing, factoring in 60-80% power or an off-balance lie when you don't hit your FIRs can make it nearly impossible to predict the outcome and put it close.
3)READ THE GREENS ON APPROACH SHOTS Any putt within about 30ft has a solid chance of going in and anything within 8ft should feel automatic. Zoom in and change your camera angle around the green when you are pin-seaking to help anticipate how your ball will be affected on the roll-out. This grey-area between the arithmetic of approach shots and the intuitiveness of the short game seems to be biggest difference between us newbies and the monsters putting up those impossible numbers.
This is overwhelmingly a healthy and positive online community so hopefully this helps some people out there who may be getting frustrated while getting their toes wet. With a little work you really can transform your scores! The creators and moderators of TGC Tours have really given a breath of fresh air to the world of sports simulation video games here, so I'm excited to see what the future holds for us! I'll catch you at the top of the leaderboards... right behind me, of course!

First tournament in Z and played my best tourney on tgctours at -11 overall. That's with a -5 in the final round. Need to clean up my tee to green, I've finally got a pretty good feel for putting. Getting to the green is the problem 😅

Well that finish was enough to get bumped back up to G. Good luck to everyone out there.

I had a final round - 5 too, but I ended up at +3 overall, so just hoping I can sneak into the top 100 to clear some of my demotion marks.

Played a few practice rounds on the course for next week. Be warned, there are some very tricky holes!

I have returned, my fellow Z brethren (and sisters, if that applies)!
Planet G is a scary place. Last week I finished at -6, which I thought I did pretty good.... and it was only good enough for 171th, in G-land. Double red marks for something I thought was a decent score. Here it would have been around 60th, which is about what I would expect.
Here's hoping I don't get "fastracked" any more.
