Congrats Izzy May. Some impressive scoring there.
This was my first tourny, finished -18. Not top 25 but happy with the results. Best of luck to everyone next week.

Wow I just matched my best score ever, with a -7 on R4!!
But also, I noticed that I had 100% GIR. I don't think I've EVER done that!
Had all eight of those putts on the lip dropped in, I'd be top 25. But as it stands, I'm high enough to make a red mark disappear, so I'll take that.

Played a practice round on the course for next week, Copper Creek, and glad I did. Let's just say you'll want to practice holes 10 and 12... there are some places you can hit it that are nearly impossible to get out of. edit: screenshot link doesn't seem to be working. But I was +5 on hole 10, +4 on hole 12, and -10 on everything else.

Yes. I had played Copper Creek before, I think when it was released or something... maybe RCRR, I'm not sure. But I've played it before, and I'm glad. I love this course, and the way its designed to be challenging without being obvious, or cookie cutter. And I would not want to go into a tournament round without having seen it before. I actually birdied 10, but #7 was that one that got me. Lots of hidden stuff in those holes that you wanna stay away from.
On a different note, I was looking at the final results from last week, and had a stunning revelation. I placed #72. was pretty happy with that, but I noticed a ton of pro clubs. I counted the master clubs users, and realized that if I had played only other master clubs users, I would have tied for around #20!!! *begs admins for master only divisions* hahaha

Definitely agree it helps to play a practice round or two. Few holes you want to identify what clubs to use before hand.
Happy with my play so far. First time seeing myself on the top 10. It might not last long but I took a screenshot hah. GL all in the next rounds.

Dude if you think -25 won't win you any trophies you are in the wrong flight. LOL We are the lowest on the totem pole. -25 here *should* win all day long, or at least have a very good chance.
EDIT: Max, I just went and rechecked the leaderboard, and apologies, my friend. After round 2, the leader is already at -19. I didn't realize they were that far ahead. No offense, to anyone, but I'll be glad when the people that shouldn't be in the lowest flight move up. The lowest rung on the ladder should not require -40 to win. Admin are all over it don't worry, I actually got moved up to CC-E because of my score in this week's tournament. Yeah it will cost me a win on my resume but it was definitely the right move by the admin. The admins are all over what. Top twenty in CC-Z always has many with numerous demotion marks. If you check their history it looks like they just started playing last month. It is pretty clear CC-Z is a mess and not being run as it was intended. The novice players that want to improve and eventually challenge for top 20 have no chance. I'm sorry when I finish -13 for a tourney and I'm lucky to be in top 100, something is not right.

I'm sorry when I finish -13 for a tourney and I'm lucky to be in top 100, something is not right. Maybe the expectation that -3 each round being a good score in a competition where participants play at least 4 rounds per week is what isn't right. Players in CC-Z play several rounds per week. As a result, they get better. As Doyley pointed out, the method to be assigned to CC-Z has changed. In prior seasons you could only find yourself in CC-Z after being demoted from CC-E (CC-E was the lowest tier prior to season 5). Now, players can be placed directly into CC-Z out of Q-School. As a result, CC-Z is more like CC-E was in prior seasons.

If you were good enough to move up you should stay at that next level up and toil to advance from there, not decide the next level up doesn't stroke your ego enough so you can force a demotion to dominate the novices.

The admins monitor scores as evidenced by me starting the week on Z last week and after playing my rounds being emailed that due to the scores I shot I was being moved to E skipping over G and F. They stated in another thread that they are also changing the scoring requirements from Q school to be placed in Z. But as it's been if you do Q School and it's a tough course or you're new to the game and struggle you get sent to Z. This was the case for myself as I was in CC-B in TGC2 before I got bored with the game and stopped playing. I happened to do Q School on a tough course that I struggled on which placed me in Z, however I played lots of rounds and quickly got back into the swing of things and was scoring too good for Z and was moved up to a more appropriate level. I absolutely agree that someone shouldn't be able to get promoted out then get a demotion back in for not playing rounds, and what probably needs to happen for Z to feel more competitive for people who are appropriately placed there is a return to you having to be placed there based on play on CC-G rather than a one off bad week in Q School.

If you were good enough to move up you should stay at that next level up and toil to advance from there, not decide the next level up doesn't stroke your ego enough so you can force a demotion to dominate the novices. Please cite even one example from Season 5 where a player was demoted from CC-G due to even two withdrawals within three weeks, and then finished in the top 5 the following week in CC-Z. I do not believe there are any players serially flunking the 10th tier just so they can dominate the 11th tier. That's what you are intimating. I think reality just doesn't meet your expectations. Instead of adjusting your expectations, you're trying to explain away why your expectations should be right with unfounded accusations of sandbagging. Somewhere on this forum, Doyley admitted that it's too easy for new players to end up in CC-Z this season, and said he made a minor adjustment to how players are assigned a Tour from Q-School. Maybe for Season 6, we go back to limiting that Tour assignment to the flight above CC-Z. But then, I think you would be complaining about not competing in CC-G for the same reason: You think -13 over four rounds is a competitive score. It isn't.

Take a look at the current 1st place player on CC-Z tourney and get back with me. 9 out of current top 20 have multiple demotion marks. That tells me they are good players that are hanging in CC-Z where they can compete for top 20, after 3 or 4 promotion marks, they WD from a few tourneys and stay in CC-Z. Sucks for the real novices trying to compete. Not sure why this is so hard for anyone to see.

This is different from what you suggested earlier, which was that players were demoting from higher flights. What I see, for the most part, are players who are rightfully placed in CC-Z because they are new to the game, and it does have a steep learning curve. I see them improving to a point where they eventually grow out of CC-Z. Sometimes rapidly, as is often the case with players who have played earlier TGC games. I also see players who were not very good with a lot of DNP and WD on their record. To me, these players play a round or two, and for whatever reason don't finish. There isn't much that suggests that they are good, but quit for the sole purpose of gaining demotion marks so that they can be good later and stick around longer. The anomaly is the current leader. That player has demonstrated at least some competence in the past, and then followed that up with a series of withdrawals. I am not ready to say that this player is outright purposely withdrawing so he can continue to dominate CC-Z, but I also wouldn't rule it out. It remains a possibility. At the very least, that player has demonstrated high enough competence to justify him being moved out of CC-Z. I will talk to Doyley about it, but I don't know whether he would agree.

I personally can't see for the life of me why a person would voluntarily take demotion marks to stay in Z.
I think its more like Patrick said, people play a round or two, and then they don't finish. My guess is that reason is their ego. Its not so much that they want to intentionally stay in Z so they can win next time... its more (and this is my opinion only!) its more the fact that they hit a bad round, and their ego simply can't take the fact of losing, so they just quit instead.
I see this more and more, all over the place, not just this game. The minute people start to lose, things start to go south, they just quit. Because they have no idea how to handle it.

Thanks for at least responding to my observations. As is human nature, many would rather be the big fish in a small pond than the small fish in the big pond. I can attest that it does get tough toiling in CC-Z trying to move up, I'm sure many of CC-z better players felt the same if they moved up and prefer to be near the top of the leaderboard in CC-z than battling to stay in the top 100.
