Hey all,
ok so I've just played my first tourney after Q-School put me in CC-Z (where I belong as I'm new to the game). I ended up in a tie for 13th and earned a promotion mark. What does that mean? Do I get promoted up a CC tour if I get 4 or 5 of those?
I also noticed I earned $4000 or so. Is this just used for money-list rankings on CC-Tours? Any other purpose?
Final question (sorry, I'm sure most of this is explained on the boards), I've heard about "special events" and that there should be one available shortly. Is this the case? Is there a calendar where I can see when these special events are scheduled?
Thanks all in advance!

Welcome!!
If you end up with 5 promo marks, or win a tourney, you move up a rank.
The admins give you the all the money you made at the end of the season in a pay out.
I'm not sure there is a calendar for them, usually I just see them posted in the news and announcements forum, and watch for the special events society to have something active in it.
I may have been wrong on one of those statements.

[/div] I may have been wrong on one of those statements. [/quote] Must be about the promotions right?? 😂 Anyway just played this week's tourney. Was aiming to better last week's score of -23 so targeting rounds of -6. Started just below the mark at -5 then righted the ship with a -7 second round and got better and better with a -8 and -9 to finish. -29 total! I'm pretty stoked and left a lot of putts out there. Already looking forward to next week!

I looked at the scores this morning after R2-
I thought I was playing pretty good, to be at -5. I "was" playing pretty good for me, as my average is +5 to -5 per round.
But nay! I am sitting out at 94, and I didn't help myself at all in R3. Gonna be sweating it out now in R4 to try to make sure I don't add another red mark, was hoping to get rid of the one that is there.

Same here. -8 after R2 in 72nd place. I have given up moaning about the inbalance in CC-Z for novice players to challenge for top 20 spot. I regulary scan the player history for CC-Z top 20, and always lots of players with numerous demotion marks. Saw a player just now in top 20 who shows just started playing last month in CC-A. Had a terrible score, now in CC-Z top 20. How do you go from A to Z overnight? If CC-A players can easily drop to CC-Z, how can we ever have the thrill of really challenging for promotion marks?

Patrick said something a few posts back about the expectation that -3 per round is a good score is what is not right.
Sad to say, but he is correct in that statement.
This place, while full of good people, and the most fun, best format to match real pga type feelings, unfortunately does not cater to us casual golfers that do think -3 per round is a good score.
such is life. I've played here for a year now, ever single round I could, and while I've improved slightly, I'm still at the bottom of the barrel, and what is a good tournament score for me, is usually outdone by most with a single round.
I just wish I could find a place to play that has tournaments, and would cater to the casual crowd that averages in the bottom half of Z. I mean, we are there, its the same names, that play every week, but we stay there and its hard to really have a thrill of competing with each other for placement, because the top 25 are way above what we usually consider a great game for us. I really don't care anymore if I move out of Z, because the scores are even more outrageous as you move up. But I'd love to just play against you guys and gals that are on my actual level.
I really enjoy the USE league, because there, the scores ARE more realistic. The only downside to it, is that the courses are really really hard sometimes, and I'm still in last place, competing against people that are just way way better than me.

I agree with your comments. My only issue is that CC-Z could be the league we hope for if TGCTours would take a hard look at the manipulation of many of the CC-Z better players. They should have moved out of CC-Z, never to return. Once you start shooting better than say 6 or more under consistently, how can you still belong in the lowest tier of CC-Z. I have also noted a significant differential in scoring between PC (which I use) and PS4, where the PS4 players universally have lower scores.

Some of the other CC divisions run contests within themselves... kind of like a rivalry league where they track the results of people who want to participate...

I see what you guys are saying. Maybe once you have made it past Z in a season the lowest you can drop is G. That way Z is 100% new players or players who have not made it past that yet. Then again, I'm new so I doubt there is no easy solution.
That being said, even though I signed up on this website a few years ago, I've never been great at the game. Over the past few weeks I've watched a ton of youtube videos & streams to improve my game. Also, I've been playing practice rounds of the course each night the week prior and playing all my rounds on Sunday. That prep work has really helped me lower my scores this week. I broke 60 for the first time ever.
So keep improving your game and hopefully the rest falls into place!

I have trouble compensating for wind, elevation changes and the slope of the ground when addressing the ball.

Once you start to understand the calculations/loft the easier it is to just "feel" it out. Approach shots are still the weakest part of my game. Once I was able to improve approach shots it really helped. North47 on youtube really helped me: Here is a 59 round on Twitch. Watched this a few times: (cephyn) 54 round: (the_duke21) More rounds: (SunPraising)

What is really bothering me is how many top 20 CC-Z players show that they just started playing the game in March 2019. They started in CC-A for 1 round, then went straight to CC-Z, where they immediately shoot -10 or better rounds. Now, I do believe in miracles to some degree, but that doesn't seem realistic to me.

FYI, the tournaments you're seeing them in CC-A are actually their Q School rounds. Not sure why it's displayed that way.

Still doesn't seem likely that you shoot -1 for Q school then straight to top 20 in CC-Z with -10 rounds. Seems like players re-register for Q school go to CC-Z even if they are good players. Since I don't have access to all the stats, i can only go by what I see. I see many top flight players playing in CC-Z. I'm currently -13 after 3 rounds. No where near top 20, closer to 100. How can so many players be in CC-Z can be -13 in 18-27 holes? CC-z is the lowest skill tier isn't it?
