There seem to be a lot of people getting very worked up over 'what ifs' So why not play the test event - and actually find out tomorrow if the API has an issue with your 'swing' before stressing over it....? Unless of course you have something to hide and are getting the excuses in early Some of us that never failed the API in TGC2 are getting flagged or told our swings "look very much like what scripts look like". There is obviously a different way in how the API data "shows up" to our staff now vs in the last game. So there is legit concern, and with the graphic feedback of what these "short swings" look like... others are naturally concerned.
To me it will be interesting to see how this shakes out. I am guessing other players that are on one of the Ryder Cup teams are also pretty concerned as I know I would not want to cost my team because of failing the API.
I am going to play exhibition rounds, clip videos of them, and see what happens.

This has to be the most ridiculous issue... I'm on the range right now hitting some balls... I have a very light thumb pressure on the my DS4 left stick when I swing and I'm not flicking it. So I'm making a consious effort to complete my downswing past the top on my DS4... and even if when I hit the plastic, it doesn't always register has a completely full swing! Sometimes I don't even it the plastic and it registers has a full swing. Sounds like this is a crap shoot if you apply very light thumb pressure on your analog stick!

I'm absolutely all over the bloody shop nowadays with this new full swing thing. I'm shite. I've gone from rounds in the -10 to -15 range, supremely confident, to rounds -3 to -7 and having no idea what's coming next. I feel a sandbag down to CC-? coming on!!! ** Shhhhhh... don't tell Ray...

Sometimes I don't even it the plastic and it registers has a full swing. Sounds like this is a crap shoot if you apply very light thumb pressure on your analog stick! This is exactly my issue as well. I have a whole lot of movement, just light pressure. I sometimes will even push forward and the swing doesn't even happen. To others reading this that may not get quite what we mean, I am not making some miniscule movement or "flick". Not at all. I rotate the controller back towards me with my left hand and my right thumb is going forward a long ways, it is just that with light pressure on the analog, the swing is not showing as to the top of the feedback circle as I let go of it somewhere in the middle of the movement.
Apparently on a good day, this can trigger swing feedback (API) to staff that resembles script users as I had a TST round with that comment made to me just last week.
I am using a Dual Shock 4 and I played two rounds of the exhibition event with my comfortable "normal" swing to see what happens with the FPPolicy. Not looking forward to having to decide if my regular swing is borderline and I have to walk on eggshells all season OR I should alter the swing to something else. Quite frustrating to use a stock controller (DS4 model that can play wired, but I do not do so) and doing the same thing for a very long time and now it can show a similar result to someone using a blatant attempt to skirt the skill involved in the swing that HB has given us.
Just wish there could be controller verification so that those using a stock controller can at least show that. I have only been using this one for maybe 4 months now. My last one hit straighter than this and was much more worn in. It cannot charge anymore or else I would test it as well.

Here:
Just want to know if I pass the API.
Speed play here as I couldn't care less about how I scored
Really couldn't care less about the course
Just want to know so I don't waste my time playing the last 2 rounds!
Btw I can assure you that some of the swing I did hit the "plastic" as I did hear the sound, but they didn't register as completed swings and vice versa! I really feel that light touch players will be the sorry loosers of this farce that is mainly caused by an HB decision.
C'est n'importe quoi votre affaire!

Just a thought. For those having the short swing issues, what other games have you played w your controllers?
I know some only play TGC primarily whereas others play shooters and rocket league and games where the sticks can take some abuse.
Maybe having a tgc-only controller would help to preserve the sticks.
I’d be surprised if those having the issues are having it with new dual shocks? Anyway just curious.

Both of my newest DS4's are less than 2 months old and I used them only for this game... I have 2 others that are more or less than a year old for all the other games that I play. The problem here is that it seems that if you apply light pressure executing your swing the game doesn't register a completed swing... Which is an HB decision. So looks like if you swing that way you have a good chance of getting flagged... And Scott doesn't see a problem with that! Btw the first thing that I've learned when I started playing real golf was to keep a light grip and let the club do the work

I'm not too worried about what controller or how you shoot - It's all out of my hands. I'm not making any house visits. I'll just look at the numbers provided and go from there. Up to the end user to comply or not if it's an issue for them. Again, for pretty much everyone participating at TGC Tours, it's not an issue. Can't stress that enough. We're not talking about 50%, 20%, 10% or even 5% of the user base. Let's go with this analogy... TGC Tours 100m race. We decide that 9.3 seconds is a fair time (ample wiggle room) to get so we play it even more safe and put our Fair Play Policy at 9 seconds. Anyone running times lower than that is likely half cyborg and not fit for our races. - 98% of TGCT run it in 10.75 seconds or worse
- Some run it in 9.95 seconds (elite players)
- Some run it in 0 seconds (Hori Teleport 2000!)
- Some run it sideways at 7.77 seconds every single time
- Some run it at 9.15 seconds...sure they pass, but probably deserve a heads up that they are flirting with Fair Play (like some of our preseason courtesy call)
- One guy runs it in 8.28 seconds and says he's using stock running shoes made by Power A (3rd party controller but claiming stock)
Etc, you get the gist. We're only dealing with guys that are running sub 9 second races ... it's a very small portion of you. Flailing your hands and saying you're doing nothing wrong is fine - it really doesn't matter what you are doing - we're just concerned with the results. If you swing with your nose and trigger fair play, then you get pulled. If you swing with your nose and don't trigger fair play, you stay. There's plenty of room for everyone in the sandbox - the few that get kicked out were just taking all the sand and not playing fair.

It is getting a bit ridiculous that people can't play with their official controllers that they have been playing with for ages. You shouldn't have to go out and purchase another just to please the bloody API. Yep....can you even imagine if your local country club told you that you can't hit the ball straight or your kicked out of league?.....LMAO It's beyond ridiculous if you ask me, but it's there rules.

My most offending controller is my newest one, the one that I bought to play TGC2019 because the one I've used for a while started to stick on the back swing. I don't think that the age of the controller matters, it's just a lottery.
