Nice J2..... I still cannot get over the shitty look some of the trees give off. Probably doesn't help the pictures that I have my object graphics setting down somewhere around 15 or 20....

Just as an FYI to players - I tested the course out last night on a variety of settings, from very firm to very soft, and different lighting settings, as well. While the type of challenge will obviously vary, I believe the course should be playable under any combination of settings. At very fast speed, you may see a few yellow lines a bit closer to a couple of pins than normal, but I don't believe there's anything unplayable. So in other words - if you want to change around the settings, have at it. Oh, and dawn/dusk lighting, while it casts shadows on greens that I designed out with default lighting, does give a nice look

Just finished playing now. Really good course with plenty of strategy. I really think that this is the Arcadia Bluffs South Course of the TGC community. Taking the looks of a template course but not intentionally filling the course full of actual templates. But as you already know, you've flunked a couple. I'll list the holes that I interpreted as a template, or close to one...
Hole 1 & 2 - Bottle.
The tee shot on this hole gives you a split fairway decision. Go left and risk running out of fairway, or go right and risk carrying the bunker for extra fairway and yardage.
Hole 3 - Eden.
We've already spoke about this, and you told me that you never intended it to be an Eden template. Everything about this hole screams "EDEN." It's a long one, but that isn't uncommon (Forsgate CC and St Louis CC both have Edens close to 200yds. ) You also have the three main bunkers to an Eden template; Hill bunker (left) - Strath bunker (front/front right) and the Eden bunker (right). There is also another bunker named "Shelly" that usually appears about 20-30 yards short right of the green, as seen on the original Eden hole 11th at St Andrews.
Hole 6 - Narrows
A pretty simple concept in that the tee shot is usually narrowed by a thinning out of the fairway guarded by bunkers on either side. Another common feature on a Narrows, is that the green is can straight ahead with bunkers along both sides to give it a narrow look.
Hole 7 - Sahara
With the very long, sweeping bunker running along the right side of the fairway, and in play at all times, this could pass as a "Sahara" hole. Although the Sahara was usually a featured bunker on a template hole, I believe some of MacDonalds and Raynor's tracks had holes named Sahara. I think NGLA has one, I could be wrong though.
Hole 8 - Biarritz.
This hole is unmistakable. Obviously intended to be a Biarritz.
Hole 10 - Alps.
I'm pretty sure you mentioned that this was always supposed to be an Alps template, and what a good job you've done with it. All the characteristics are there. You even added the preferred add on's that MacDonald liked. The little bit of fairway to give players a chance to roll the ball on, and a mild punch bowl green. CBM would be proud.
Hole 11 - Valley.
The Valley Template is one of my favorites. They typically play into or across a valley. Yours plays across, as the green sits higher up on the approach shot. Great bomber holes for long par fours or fives.
Hole 12 - Double Plateau (I think)
A classic example of a double plateau layout, but with added length. I'm not exactly sure if you really went for a double plateau green though, as I could really distinguish any plateaus on the green. It just looked very undulating with no obvious front plateau???
Hole 13 - Short.
I think this was intentional by yourself. Short templates are usually well built up, have a thumbprint and are well protected all round. Good hole.
Hole 14 - Leven.
Another hole I think you intended to be of a template. With the risk reward carry bunker and the sand Mound protecting the left side of the green. It's pretty much textbook. I do think that the risk carry bunker in the fairway, would have been better off on the right hand side. It would then reward players with a better view over the sand mound on the front left of the green.
Hole 16 - Long.
Very basic. The template trio often named their longest hole on the course "long."
Hole 17 - Redan.
Obviously intended. It's the greatest par three concept of all time...
Hole 18 - Cape/Lions Mouth.
You're just showing off on eighteen, combining two templates into one... With the Cape tee shot over water, followed by by a long approach into a Lions Mouth green, this makes for a very tough finish!
Excellent template hybrid, Justin. One for the favorites. ð

joegolferg thanks for taking the time to play through it and give your thoughts. You're basically spot on with everything for the most part. I had intended to make 11 a road hole - hence the road running parallel (but not behind, obviously) - with the large front bunker, but I was never really convinced that it was an outright road. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it, and thanks again for taking the time to type all of that out.
