Lockwood Downs Golf Club:
A myriad of waterways lurking in the basin of Lockwood Downs dominate this picturesque golf course. Some intricate routing & moderate elevation offers a varied layout & something for all skill levels. Whilst the majority of fairways are nice & wide it's the greens which provide most of the tracks defence with some tough slopes & tiers to deal with. Firmness & putting speed will aid your all important approach shots but the settings can be very tricky if you end up out of position!! Theme: Harvest Atmospheric Conditions: Mid morning, hazy sunshine. Holes: 18. Approximate Length; 7,280 yards. Par: 73 (4 x par 3, 9 x par 4, 5 x par 5). Fairways firmness: Firm. Give this one a play people - it's a nice relaxing course from Simon, nothing too demanding. Some gorgeous rock work and waterfalls. Cinch for a berth on the Challenge circuit. ErixonStone

I get the feeling that this course was designed to be a nice easy play for those wanting a chilled round of golf. The lighting was very nice, sort of nostalgic in a way. The holes where well shaped overall and I had no problems with the greens. There were some things I wasn't keen on as well. The routing felt kind of disconnected and directionless without an outer treeline or boundary. I also found that the ultra slow greens made the whole putting experience quite dreary, I think you could have still had nice easy greens at at least 150 speeds. And finally, I noticed that the ladies/junior tee's were way too long. An average yardage for ladies would be around 5900-6200 yards.

Beautiful course Simon at first the lighting I thought would be an issue for me but I absolutely thought it fit very well the more i played...just a smooth as butter course, relaxing round... Agree that the greens could have been sped up some, but took zero enjoyment out of the round
Great work bud, Best of luck on the contest

Loved the course Simon, can't say I have a favorite hole because they are so nice. Very relaxing course to play and very fair. At first I thought the lighting might be a little to low but it was not an issue at all. Overall a great job. Who knows how it will do in the survivor contest, gonna be to many twist and turns going on, but I think you will do well.
I shot 4 under, with 2 bogies. My own fault with my great putting ability ... LOL.

Thanks for the play & kind comments Tom... As for the Survivor competition... who knows what VctryLnSprts has up his sleeve? Just be happy to get through the team rounds but from what I've seen so far the standard is very, very high

Sam, job well done sir! Had a blast playing your course. I really liked some of the tee shots where a tree was strategically placed and I could tell you were trying to push the player into a certain shot shape. As a result, I hit a few perfect draw/fades around said trees and felt immediately satisfied with my shot, which unfortunately happens so few times on most courses where you just hit straight drives all day, so KUDOS to you.
Couple areas for improvement could be linking some of your water sources/rivers together - not really an issue unless the player really goes looking for it. And there was one par 3 on the back nine with all four tees set at the same yardage (190 ish I believe), I just thought you could have added a few more tee boxes and distances for variety on that one hole.
Overall, well done!!!

Of High Standard this one, you have turned the corner now,the last few courses have just got better and better. Paying off now after digesting tons of feedback and study, you have absorbed bags full of info and now producing some gemstones.
Sexy shapes i see are now appearing, with the lights down low-beautiful lighting here , so maybe i should call you Samantha Fox, do you wear womens clothes at all, if so i won`t tell anyone
This course would be ideal for CC-AM crowd for sure
Excellent product mate- 4 Stars

I enjoyed my -10 round on this course playing from the gold tees. There were a few holes where I seen the player had different options of approaches some of which I played safe because of the wind. I liked the waterfall on the back of 11 just a subtle little one and it didn't sound as if you were at the Niagra Falls. A couple of short par 4's with par 3 or 5's on either side making it feel as if you could pick up a couple of eagles very quickly. I don't think I've played medium/slow greens in a while but I didn't notice much of a difference. Good job Sam on an enjoyable course.
